which one do you think is a bigger achievment, winning 3 stright asian cup(1968-72-76) or going to 2 consecutive world cups (2014-2018)

i personally think going to world cup back to back is a bigger achievment, since is harder to qualify, however we have not won the asian cup for a long time also

3 asian cup victories. If we woud have pulled of qualifying twice in a row 20 years ago when only an asian team was able to qualify then i would say WC. Though im not saying that this isnt a great achivement it is but we should be able to qualify for every single world cup seeing how we have the quality to beat the likes of Qatar, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Mahrain, Nahrain, Iraq, Syria etc

2 stright World Cups. The old Asian Cup was easier to win. It was a 5 or 6 team competition without the likes of Japan, Australia and Saudi Arabia.

It's actually 3 straight Asian Cups and one Asian Games. And as noted to win them you had to be the best of the bunch not just in the top 4.

Neither one. Let me explain:
*Asian Cup victories were when football was not as popular in Asia and much easier to win. Plus I no longer consider it an achievement since we have not done anything recently to validate our past glory.
*Going to the world cup two times in a row being considered an "achievement" per say for a football fanatic nation like Iran is a Joke LOL .
--> As a nation that loves soccer so much and lives and dies by it we really have to aim higher then be happy for past glory or a regular "achievement" for top footballing nations.

As another member mentioned it, winning is always great.

I grew up when 3 Asian games took place. The wins over Israel and S. Korea were memorable days in my growing up life.

Yes, going to WC is more important. But Asian Cup also was important because many of Iranian players had other jobs because their wages from football was too little vs. now.

Overall, any time Iran wins, our people become happy including me.
