For me it will always be Daei , Mahdavikia , Nekounam, Bagheri , Abedzadeh the top-5
Iran deserves better, TM deserves better.

I think the most talented player we ever had was Ali Karimi, that's why I voted for him.
      --------------------------Beiranvand-------------------
      --Moharrami----Hosseini--Kanaani----Amiri--
      ------------------Ezatolahi-----Ebrahimi--------------
      --Jahanbaksh---------Ghoddos------------Taremi--
      ---------------------------Azmoun----------------------

Khodadad Azizi. With him we went to world cup france. Without him and with Daei, Karimi, Kia,..., Bladzevic and branko we couldn't.
As for talented player I say Azmoun and Gucci

I'm missing Javad Nekounam in this poll. He had by far the most lengthy and successful career in the best league of the world.

That's for the Argentines to decide and I don't think Maradona tops the list there. The reason that you followed Maradona from your early teen years on TV doesn't make him the best there. He sure has been on the news for many on field, off the field stuff.

Take Daei's stats away (If Daei hadn't scored against all the weak team half dozen times each) he would just be a great player not our greatest.

Azmoun will likely be in this discussion in the future, no matter how bad he screws up these transfers.

The dude is just that good.

In terms of pure stats, it is undoubtedly Daei. The man's name is even a trivia question (who has scored the most international goals in Football). Considering how late he started playing football its amazing how many goals he scored regardless of who he scored it against.

To be voted as the best player ever, it's not enough to simply have talent. There are many talented players in Iran, but unless you showcase that against the top players in the world, it's meaningless. To be the player ever, the player should have had a long career in the top leagues of the world and ofcourse a great career for TM.

Before the revolution, I would say Parvin, Hejazi, Rowshan, ghelich Khani and Shahrokhi were the top 5. The second tier of players were Mazloomi, Ghassempour, Kazerani, Eskandarian, Adelkhani, Nooraie, Kalani, sadeghi, zolfagharnasab and a few others. Very difficult to compare players of the 60's and 70's to the post revolution era players.. Players today are stronger, faster and have much more advanced training methods available to them versus players in the 70's, many of which were not even fully professionals. In the 70's many of the players had other jobs besides football. Also, the players in the 70's were not playing in Europe and so you really could not call them world class in Iranian standards.

Post revolution, I think the best players were Mahdavi Kia and Nekounam, only because they showed their talent while playing against top notch players. They also had the longest careers of any Iranian players in Europe which to me is the most important factor for judging how great a player is.

As for the best player ever, my vote would go to Nekounam, not just because he had one of the best careers in Europe for an Iranian player, but also because he had the biggest impact while playing for TM. A leader on the field as a DM, but also some very timely goals scored for TM which is a big accomplishment for a defensive minded player.

The second tier of players would be Karimi, Hashemian, Daei, Azizi, Abedzadeh.

In my time, Karim Bagheri was hands down the greatest player who put the TM shirt on.

In my father's time, Parviz Ghelichkhani was hands down the greatest. According to many he was the greatest ever.

You missed both in your poll! Need to read up a bit more about Iran's football young man.

We have always played against these weak teams. Why didn't others score as many goals as Daei?

Not alone! Nekounam's career was just as successful, if not more.
