    FT thoughts

    Positives:
Great performance defensively second half - they raised it a notch after my HT critique of the aerial defending
MiMo's pace and positional awareness is world class - allows him to pack in tight to the centre backs and yet his mobility allows him to press the wide player when needed
The way we close down other teams and harry them on the ball is as good as any team, not just in Asia but anywhere
Our confidence and patience on the ball has improved beyond measure since the last WC (my biggest concern around CQ's tactics then)
We now need to transfer this confidence to hold the ball and knock it around to playing non-Asian teams - friendlies against a couple of decent teams are key
To go away to Korea, play most of the 2nd half with 10 men (when they are desperate for a win) and never really look threatened is superb
People are bashing Amiri but I think he gives us a real balance and shape to the team on the left hand side. Tidy player and nowhere near as bad as some people make out

    Negatives:
Ezatollahi was stupid to react and needs to learn and mature from this game - in terms of pure ability and importance to the team he's key to our success but he needs to improve his lapses in concentration and some of his decision making
Referee gave a lot of soft fouls to Korea second half - they were throwing themselves around, winning fouls (but to be honest we did the same in Tehran against them)
CQ made a mistake bringing on Taremi up front. We played the last 30 with effectively 9 men. We needed mobility and I honestly think if he had kept on Gucci - with his pace and harrying against a Korea side pushing men forward for the win - we would have scored.

That was what I thought. South Koreans get Australian ref to help. Let's lose to Syria.
Down to 10 men 0:0 is a good result. Specially away. CQ's sub Taremi was good he
stopped Koreans from all attack making sure no one is behind. How ever I really wanted to see Torabi.

I was impressed by Cheshmi, i am pretty sure he will be the regular in TM list from now on, actually that could have happened from last year if he wasn't the victim of severe injury.

            Wow, what a turn around!

Syria and Uzbeks in the WC ahead of S Korea and Saudi would be amazing

I usually have problems with commentators in general, but I've never seen so much bias towards a team in my life. Like god damnnn

IS there any way that only Iran can qualify from Group A

Either Uzbek and Korea are garbage recently Or we are just on another levell

                We still under dogs tho

Most points have been stated. The refereeing was not good. I thought Saman Ghoodoos will play but no sign of him even n the bench.

Overall, I happy that Team-e Melli did not lose.

The foul calls were absolute bullshit. FYI, Peter Green looked at the f*cking jumbo screen to see what Ezatollahi did! That's against the rules! Referees are supposed to go on what they perceive during the match, unless video review has been applied to the match.

The Australian fuckers aren't against us, they're just dumb as rocks! Don't know the rules. Funny how he ignored the rake of Ezatollahi's eyes as well.

Iranian does a foul and the goalie pushes him down, deserved red card for falling! Iranian gets fouled and gets revenge by raking his shoe on the guys head, red card for revenge!

It is too conventient guys, come on!

Also, how many times did our guys get absolutely manhandled and the ref didn't call the foul, and IMMEDIATELY on the next play, we get all ball on a steal and he blew the whistle?

I sincerely hope there is an Australian referee convention soon, and the bus driver to the convention is Stevie Wonder!

Idk but Taremi showed nothing since being subbed on. Slow sluggy and lack luster. I think Ansarifard woulda had a better display.

I never like'd Ezatollahi, he is only solid against weak teams. Overrated Player. I dont say hes useless but I think he needs time to grow up.

I hate to say it, but Asia is not looking good, right now. Iran is the best team in Asia, but even with the transformation (to a disciplined defensive team under CQ), I'm not sure we can play toe-to-toe with the better teams in Europe or South America.

I agree. He's also got a bad ass attitude, which I love in TM. You need guys like this to intimidate.

South Korea look flustered against a 10-men Iran. They were very happy with a draw because they couldn't even get a shot on target! Milad put Son in his pocket (Milad son'd Son!)

I tend to agree. We are solid rock defensively but we are not really dangerous in the offense. We need to definetley improve that and play quality teams in friendlies
