CAS rules in favour of Iran in Iran-Saudi case!

    Great news, full article below:

Iran’s Football Federation has reportedly won a major case against its Saudi counterpart after almost a year.
Iran has won a case against Saudi Arabia in the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after seriously pursuing the matter for quite some time, according to a Farsi report by Varzesh3 news website.

Iran’s Football Federation filed a lawsuit against its Saudi counterpart a year ago for the Arab federation’s refusal to allow its footballers to come to Iran. Representatives and lawyers from both countries held meetings at the CAS for almost a year amid a political tug of war between Tehran and Riyadh. Finally, it was announced that Iran had won the case against Saudi Arabia.

In the last session of the CAS, Saudi Arabia was convicted and sentenced to paying damages and all costs caused by its wrong decision. The costs include the expenses of Iranian representatives’ trips to third countries as well as fines.

With this verdict, we should now wait and see which side will host matches between Iran and Saudi Arabia in the next AFC Champions League season. Iran has announced it has no problem sending its players to Saudi Arabia. The court ruling can make Saudi Arabia host games after several years.

What is interesting is that the CAS, based on its rules, has not allowed the Iranian Football Federation to announce the news on the ruling to media. Anyway, Iran’s winning the case is good news and a success for the Islamic Republic. We should also wait and see how the Asian Football Confederation will react to the news.

We have to be careful in our optimism, it may be a Saudi tactic. Persepolis had their "home" game in Oman vs Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia.

Does that mean that Persepolis has to play in Saudi Arabia in the other leg??

doubt it. the date and pitch are already set, and PP didnt get to play in azadi so it would be unfair for al - locust to be able to play in their home ground

I heard Syrians have requested FIFA to move their home games from Iran to another Arabic country. They also apparently have filed a formal complaint against Iran for not having treated their female spectators fairly etc. Morons don't know our own females have been deprived of admission to our stadiums for over 4 decades apparently!

F Syria and their namak nashnas. Outside Syria we saved their country from turning into a 100% ISIS hellhole.

I believe the reason was because they happened to be in our group, thus conflict of interest to have one country host 2 countries who play in the same group...

I could be wrong though. Can someone kindly confirm all this?

                            This was all a rumor.
They never planned on having their 3rd round games in Iran.

These are all diversion tactics by Syria and Iran so noone would ever suspect them of match fixing
