Well despite our records having fallen out of the window , I wish Syria best of luck specially when they play either Australia or Soosmarestan, I will cheer for them.

The thing that I disliked about this match was the time wasting and grassrolling. Other than that, our team was at fault for not getting the job done. Despite their unsportsmanlike behavior, Syria defended well and capitalized on the few chances they had. I wouldn't say I'm content with the way they played but I congratulate them on getting a point. Everyone in Asia knows it's hard to get a point in Iran.

the only thing this result proved to me is that TM is not yet ready to successfully display an Attacking football and still manage to get Ws, especially considering the quality of the opponent today, we have A LOT OF WORK TO DO STILL on that front before WC...!! Cause in tourney situations like WC, it is very likely that we would have to risk a more balanced/attacking tactics in order to gain all 3 points in at least one game (usually last game) in order to go through to 2nd round..!!

Had we really needed all 3 points from todays match or even 1 point, we woulda easily gotten that done by reverting back to our Total Team Defensive Tactical Strengths after the sadar's Winner for sure, or possibly even before that when we got the equalizer..!!

anyways, since IFF cant seem to arrange a friendly for shittt, this was a good stage to test for such tactics by CQ...!

But in all fairness and honesty Syria gave troubled us the most, compared to the rest of the team's in both legs. No other team created as many scoring opportunities on our goal than these guys.

Traditionally we always struggle against physically strong and tall teams. Compare our back to back friendlier with Chile and Sweden. We played brilliantly and beat Chile 2-0 with all their stars, while a week later we played terribly and lost to Sweden.

Same applies to our last WC appearance, we played pretty much better than Argentina and almost beat them, while failed miserably against Bosnia...

Can't believe people are hating on Syria now, they fought, they are a war torn nation and you guys really cheering for Arabestan? Wtf dudes? They cried after the game, why you can't respect it?

The end of the game reminded me of the 2-2 vs. Qatar five years ago, when we conceded a bad goal in the 90th minute. Bahrain was on the verge of qualifying, but got eliminated.

How iran played at the end was utterly stupid, the negligence, almost like they gave syria the ball to have a chance to score.

Man, this feels like a loss because a 2-2 in Azadi against Syria is quite unacceptable. We only had one job tonight and we completely messed up our perfect qualification campaign.

Obviously we are all upset and itll take a lil while to get over it.

But at the end of the day there is only one reason we conceded at the end.

We simply switched off. Easy. Basic. It wasn't complicated.

And you can bet your bottom dollar the team will learn from this big time. Those players will be replaying that in their heads over and over again for days. If you've ever played football and made a mistake you will know exactly how that feels.

The team made a mistake and soured the end of an amazing campaign but that doesn't erase the most amazing achievement in football in our history.

oh and btw Korea scored the most goals in the group with 11. We scored 10. Congrats to us all for an amazing achievement.

I Don't think so!! Were we not supposed to destroy them in Tehran?!! Did they not beat Qatar and Uzbakistan? Did they not gather their points essentially playing all away matches?

Syria is a better team than they looked today. However, they executed on a strategy they had, and with a bit of luck, they got the result they needed.

SA may beat Syria, but in footballing terms I do think it is a 50-50 proposition.

Here is an intriguing possibility: Syria defeats SA and has to play USA, and picks Iran as their home venue!!!
