How the hell did people think Ansari was gonna be Montazeri 2.0
Many players get invited all kashki just cause they play for PP or SS
I much rather have used these two matches to test another young CB like Kanani or someone.
Ansari isn't even that young, nor was he even a CB before this year... he was originally a bloody LB!
I also don't get why CQ insisted on trying Cheshmi as DM both matches and not CB

I remind you guys that France couldn't beat Luxembourg at home. So please don't get emotional over one match. Yesterday's performance wasn't bad at all. It's only that we missed many chances. And also Beiranvand had a bad day. Let the Syrians enjoy their time until the day comes where they get smashed by Australia.

Reading the comments here never amaze me. From the taremi haters, to the conspiracy theorists, and the people who cannot understand that a poor result doesn't cancel out 10 good ones.....it really never fails to give me a laugh.

As some have already touched on, not only are we the only team to qualify without any head aches, if you like looking at numbers, look at the big gap between us and the rest of the teams:

        Iran - 22 points
        South Korea - 15 points
        Syria - 13 points
        Uzbekistan - 13 points
        China - 12 points
        Qatar - 7 points

....keep in mind this gap still remains large with us getting 2 points in our last 2 games. Point here is, whether you're a numbers/stats guy or if you're a "let me see nice football" guy, you had your fair share throughout this WCQ of both. One bad goalkeeping performance does not change a thing.

TM deserves a lot better than some of the fans I'm seeing here who act as if we failed to qualify. If anything, today's performance speaks loudly about the importance of a good preparation between now and June. CQ has already touched on this before the camp and today is more evidence why the federation MUST learn from the mistakes of the past and give our team what it needs to be successful!!!!

I agree with you here and I think Mazaheri should be tried out as number 1 for once! The guy is great! I've always liked him more than all our other goalies.

I don't know what Lak is doing in TM when we have someone like Mazaheri!

            Only Dejagah was great.
Hajsafi and Taremi and Beiranvand and Karimi were horrible.

CQ is stubborn. Once he has someone on the list, he relentlessly tries to morph them into his system. I don't get why Amiri and Pourghaz were still called up.

                Aspects to improve
I have always considered Hajsafi to have low football IQ. He has flashes of brilliance, but his play is far too inconsistent. His play very often undoes the good work of the team.

Beiranvand was extremely poor. While he has kept many clean sheets, recall that we have not had many shots on our goal throughout this campaign, so he has not been tested. He was disappointing today:

                - On the first goal, his initial save was clearly faulty, but I was also surprised at his slowness to recover from the first save and react to the shot on the rebound.
                - On the second goal, his save was not routine, but was nevertheless quite easy.

I did not like Ansari, but I'm glad CQ tested the defence today to understand its weaknesses.

Solution: It is clear that Montazeri and Hosseini's return to the lineup (which is a given) will greatly strengthen our defence. I'm undecided as to who should replace Hajsafi and Beiranvand.

Mixed Sardar and Taremi were a little wasteful with their finishing today (with Taremi being the particular culprit). We should've scored three more: Taremi's open-goal miss was strange as he had time to bury that (forgetting the obviously incorrect offside call), Taremi's shot in the 77th minute after his long run was silly (he should've squared it to a free Azmoun, who would've certainly scored), and Azmoun should have nailed the one-on-one chance (he had two - his first one in the fifth minute may have been a penalty).

On the other had, Sardar had excellent positioning and a great touch. Taremi has reasonable football IQ, and and gets himself in many good positions, but has poor technique. He reminds me of Borhani in some ways.

Solution: I would like to see what Ghoddos could do sitting just behind Azmoun. I would be very surprised if he were not clearly superior to Taremi.

                Positives
Dejagah was in a different league to anyone else on the pitch today. He was also the best player against Korea. He should always take our corners, including from the right side.

MiMo was strong, but not as good as usual.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

how the hell are you gonna write him off after one game ? How will he get experience and improve. What better place to do so than in a meaningless match against syria at home, where the opposition is playing with their lives ? If kanani had fucked up you would have said the same exact thing LOL . Cheshmi was great both game at CDM, so CQ did fine there. Some people have really just come out of the woodwork and started posting their negative bullshit.

wow .... Let's see, we qualified with 22 points. Tied S. Korea IN KOREA with 10 players. Had a slight off day against a Syria team that has peaked, and all of a sudden people are pointing to past results against Nigeria and Bosnia as proof that we are a failure ??? Just look at the japan score. Look at what happened to Australia and how dismal S. Korea looks.

What we need here is a dose of Ghotbi/Daei/Ghalenoi .... yeah right .... remember GN ?? Remember talebi with his "aberoomandaneh mibazim" comment ?? remember MK, Branko, and the rest of the non qualified people using TM as an internship program.

AND by the way, 10 Goals is an awesome stat, particularly when your opponents only score 2 goals.

                      I will add few comments.
I am happy Team-e Melli qualified two games before. Iran will be in Russia.

Iranian players played well and some of them were tired from their trip to Korea.

IFF is incompetent to get Saman's paperwork ready or send to FIFA soon enough. Iranian players did not get any prize for ranking first. Also, there was no celebration.
Daman IRI, WHY Syrian women were allowed into Stadium????

Could Ghoddos potentially fill one of our CM spots as an more attacking CM playing next to Ezatolahi when he gets back? Or would he be too much of a defensive liability

no . given ashkan's performances, he needs to play at CAM , but ghoddos also needs to start bc we need something new, and taremi way too begir nagir for high pressure WC situations. He is good off the bench. Ghoddos should start LW. I think our weakness is DM by far . I think Ando should be called back if he is in form. I previously thought that wasnt necessary but we lack any calm, experience in there. None of our DM's have any vision. Only hope is that saeid picks his shit up this season.

Gk isnt as big of an issue. I think some basic coaching can correct beiranvand's errors. He was so used to scratching his balls all game when he finally had to do a couple things he got cold feet. Wont happen if we get a couple friendlies where he is in the thick of it ( besides than one error, he was great vs montenegro - who btw look set to go to WC ) .

Ramin is dangerous going forward, has great energy, but since his inclusion in TM I have been wary of his horrific lapses in concentration, in and out of possession. He is a liability unless he has a great season in holland and fixes his issues. He was the cause of the second goal with a fully retarded give away. I would rather see a much more solid Ghafouri .

Hajsafi has no vision in DM spot. He is a left sided utility player and it unfair to expect more of him. He is still a very useful squad player.

My lineup going forward. CQ has to find a solution to DM spot. No clue who, glad Im not coach.

I am not surprised one bit. They showed their true side and class by that repulsive display in the Malaysia game which is why I wanted TM to destroy them. And some people on this board are sympathizing with such SCUMS.

Hopefully Australia will end their happiness quickly.
