Beiranvand has been countlessly exposed like an amateur goalkeeper. He used to be decent for Naft a few years back but no way he is our top 3 GK's, let alone 1st GK. We just suck in the GK department and we need to hope for a solid defence that will save our asses at the World Cup.

Beiranvand or Haghighi for Number 1 in WC 2018

I guarantee most of you will disagree, but then again this is just my bold opinion... BUT
I believe Haghighi playing keeper is our best opinion.
Call me stupid, I agree he's got major flaws, but his EXPERIENCE is so damn critical.
Having a Goalkeeper playing in back to back world cups is a major edge to that player... Haghighi is already used to the spotlight and plays better under the spotlight as well.
I think hes done a good enough job in Sweden to win the #1 spot... HOWEVER, knowing that Haghighi has not received enough playing time on Team Melli, I highly doubt he will be our #1...
My guess for the WC:
1) Beiranvand (Still shaky, doesn't have the GK swagger we find with Haghighi)
2) Lak (Mediocre keeper in my opinion, haven't seen anything special from him)
3) Akbari (Decent keeper, getting better but needs a better club)

Team Melli Goalkeeper Analysis:
Beiranvand- Athletically gifted keeper who's been getting #1 reps for almost two years now. He is guaranteed a spot to Russia, if not our #1 keeper. Plays VERY shaky at times and needs to be tested tested tested. Cannot stress how PITIFUL he is on exits. Amazing long throws and above average reflexes. Slightly above average distribution. (6.5/10)
Haghighi- Athletic, strong keeper with aura of confidence and leadership. Excellent leader IMO. Good reflexes, but struggles to stop low on ground shots. Very streaky goalkeeper... At times looks like Buffon and at other times you wonder if he is worthy of playing in the PGPL. (6.5/10)
Lak- Haven't watched him too much, but hes a solid PGPL keeper. Could potentially be our #3 in Russia... Maybe #2. (6.2/10)
Akbari- Haven't watched him a lot either, seems like a strong athletic keeper though. Almost like a mix of Beiro and Haghighi, but lacks experience severely. (6.2/10)
Mazaheri- Honestly, out of all the keepers ive followed, Rashid never fails to impress me. Rarely do I see him fuck up... Athletic and has uncanny reflexes. Mediocre/poor distribution though, but that's fixable. Doesn't have much experience but honestly deserves to be our #2 if not our #1 keeper. (6.7/10)
Abedzadeh- Son of a legend. Gets a lot of hate on this site, but he's worked his butt off and you can tell... Only Iranian keeper to play in a top tier league (Portugal) albeit not receiving #1 keeper minutes... However, starts a lot of games for a #2 keeper. Amazing distribution and above average reflexes... Seems like he's getting confidence and playing like he deserves to go to Russia. (6.4/10)

Haghighi is at best an average goalkeeper. His exist are worse than Beiravand. I cant really see Haghighi develop anymore he is big confident and charismatic bbut to clumsy for a goalkeeper and has bad positionining.
I havent seen Mazaheri play more than 1-2 times but judging from his last game in team melly he has good reflexes but also badly positioned somtimes in the last game . To early to write him of though i just reviewed his last game.

How Davari’s great form deteriorated as soon as he was invited to TM is still beyond me. Of course I am not by any means implying that TM had the slightest role in his goalkeeping regression. Just a bizarre coincidence. I truly wish he could have kept it up, thus by now would have become our number 1 keeper.
Why our keepers of the past decades have been so inconsistent and unreliable? They all shine for a short period of time, then decline and become mediocre at best!
