Great ! zer zedan ziadi . He has been out for 2-3 consecutive lists, so other players have been given a chance. Reality is besides him and dejagah, we do not have a CAM capable of keeping possession. This is the reality. Imani, Abdollahzadeh, torabi were all very poor while playing in the central midfield position, and none were able to keep possession and even remotely dictate the tempo of game. Dejagah and Masoud are the only players capable of doing this. Ashkan is first choice bc he is faster, able to do more defensive work, and more of a goal threat.

First excuse your language. Second, Masoud is not just slow, he is also inconsistent in NT and loses the balls many times. You see some flare here and there and that is it about him. He has been like that for past 2 years specially during his tenure in Qatari league. Ever since he left for easy money there, he lost his magical touch. He became slightly better after he moved to Greece but the age is catching up with him. I really want to believe Masoud can help us in WC but no matter how optimistic I look at it he won't add anything special to our team. If our current team is suck at CM that shows we need to try more new players in this position and use them in friendly matches to get them ready for WC not going back to square one.

Deja, Gucci, Jalal, Ghafuri, and Amiri will be phased out after WC and we need to think of their replacement. Bringing Masoud back is one step backward. I say my opinion with no regards to Masoud act of bravery which I am proud of. I just say what I think is good for the team. I am not here to please the fan boys or cheer leaders on social media. I am here to discuss real football and enjoy our team succeeding on WC.

I am the first to criticize masoud's lack of speed, matal kardan on the ball, but reality is besides him and ashkan, we have no other players that can keep the ball. I wish there was but our guys consistently prove without these two guys at cam we cannot even remotely control pace of the game. I think they along with the guys you mentioned, me phased out after asian cup 2019. Maybe amiri could be phased out sooner but thats wishful thinking. CQ will probably give them and himself one last shot at glory.

He is a CAM, of course he will have more turnovers than other players on the team - he is not passing backwards or laterally - he is trying to use through balls and make forward passes.

I like Shojaie a lot and I thank him so much for the last 10 years in TM but I am afraid that He no longer belongs there any more
He has lost an step for sure,he looses many balls and is not physically strong enough to play strong defense the way CQ demands of all his players so I believe he needs to retire from the TM
In CQ 's system he will maybe at best be good for the last 20 mins of a match

FYI, If all of the underdogs win in the playoffs, Iceland and Costa Rica would move into the 2nd pot. Would lower the quality of the tournament, but would increase TM's chances of drawing an easy group! If Peru were to somehow fail to qualify against NZ, then even Northern Ireland could move up into the 2nd seed if they qualify. Very unlikely to happen, but the USA showed that anything is possible in these qualifiers!

Aren't games like the one against Argentina 3 years ago the games that you want to see? Strange! Agreed. Besides we severely underestimate the "weak" teams. Like Mexico in '06 or Bosnia in '14.
