Portuguese media states Abedzadeh has received a call-up for the upcoming friendlies:

"Carlos Queiroz calls goalkeeper of the Marítimo

Amir Abedzadeh summoned to individuals of the adversary of Portugal

Amir Abedzadeh was called up by Carlos Queiroz, in view of the particulars that Iran's national team will make in March.

Marítimo's goalkeeper was one of those chosen by the Portuguese coach for the duels with Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, in preparation for the 2018 World Cup, in which the Iranians are part of the Portugal group.

The first game, against Libya, is scheduled for March 17 in Tehran. On 23, the Iranians move to Tunisia, to face the local selection. Four days later, in Austria, they face Algeria.

Hired to Barreirense last season, the 24-year-old goalkeeper has been used in seven matches in the island team."

They must have gotten some kind of advanced notice. Its not like you can call up a player one day in advance and without the clubs having a say. There must have been some importance involved when calling up the players as not all coaches are lenient like the ones we have in PGL

Hm maybe, but he's been called up before and it wasn't announced a month in advance. I call bs on this one, but I hope I'm wrong, more than happy to have him in the squad.

Uzbek source too but doesn't hold any water. It says they had a verbal agreement.

I say good luck CQ. He had enough crap dealing with IR and IFF. He deserves a little peace and we need a greater coach.

I wouldn't blame him one bit. I don't know if it's true though... hmmm he was even approachd by Australia and South Africa, I'd be surprised if he goes to Uzbakestan.

I hope he stays for Asian Cup 2019 at least. Nothing would satisfy me more than to match Japan's record with CQ at the helm and for one of the players to bring out a big Persian Gulf banner in the UAE when we win the final

CQ has done a lot for our football, except he has not brought home any trophy. I really hope he stays for 2019 Asian Cup and get what he deserves.

Here we go again! Before a major event the B/S rumours of CQ leaving have started again.
