    Was this really a penalty?
    Why is AFC so stupid. The only reason why Syria got into playoff is because they tied against Iran. Then AFC goes and puts an Iranian ref for their match against Australia. That stupidly to the fullest.

            i saw it , it was a 50-50 peanlty, he didnt give the one before, but syria played well second half to be frank

              Ive seen softer penalties given and harsher fouls not given.

                It was a soft penalty for sure but watch the replay, the ausie player makes contact into him in the air which is a foul.

                Draw was probably a fair result as well to be honest, faghani was actually very good in this game, he came out stern and used his yellows in a way to set a good tone. No one wasted time or played dirty after that.

                  That to me definitely did not seem like a penalty. Not a good call from Faghani. Hope this won't affect his FIFA scores which will surely do...

                      Is your comment based on the assumption that the Iranian referee would call things in favour of Syria?? If so, you need to check your facts man, that is a big assumption, based on nothing in my opinion. Even if it wasn't penalties, referees make mistakes (although it looked like a penalty to me)

                              Faghani was too easy on the Australians, there was another for sure hand ball that he did not call

                              So yes Faghani did a great job
