scharlatan Ghotbi would have qualify for South Africa.

S.Korea was very lucky that we got red carded and that the uzbeks were
unbelievable weak this year.
Therefore the qualification of South Korea shows nothing but that they were extremly
lucky and should be thankful to iran that despite there unsportmanship
in the last WCQ we played fairly and tried to beat Syria.

It doesn't matter. You can not get lucky for every single WC! At times you are unlucky too. Yet South Korea is the only Asian country who have qualified to 9 consecutive WCs! All the way since 1986!

Now we can talk about If Iran this then that, or if the revolution, the regime, etc didn't happen then we'd have a higher record. But the facts are there. They have a good team. Even when they don't have a good period or they 're unlucky, they're still good enough to qualify to the WC every single time. You have to give them the credit when it's due.

Well it's just a friendly, but I would be lying if I didn't say I would be disappointed losing to Russia.

If CQ is serious about R16, then we have to be beating teams of Russia's calibre, friendly or not.

Can some of you people stop being so negative?? everytime theres a match some of you are soo damn negative. We are going to play with confidence and we are going to play hard. no matter who is injured in our team. we have enough quality players who can fill up the spots! we won against russia before with a much weaker team.. now we are way stronger and so are they. but i have faith in our TM winning since there is no other option to think about. so stop being pussies and being so negative. Same! The word around the street is that we will have 4 more friendlies before the new year (2018). Not counting the Russia friendly.

And by street I mean Taj and the IFF meeting he held recently, which was open to journalists.

We will find out what Team Melli is made of without a few regulars. I'm hoping to see a few newer faces as we did against Togo.

I strongly believe this good friendly match against Russia can definitely help boost the morale and confidence of the younger and older players who have either just joined or didn't get much playing time during the qualification stages.

For example, like I've said in other threads, I'm hoping to see Karim start again because I believe it'll help him a lot on a psychological level. He hadn't played for a long time until the Togo game. I think it'll be good for him to keep the momentum going.

But it will ultimately be what Carlos wants and I respect his decision.

No offense to South Korea, but I would not be able to listen to their commentators for a full match. Maybe it's because I don't understand Korean, but I don't think it has to do with their language.

Their commentators speak too much and very fast. I think it would've been the same way in Farsi. Too much talking lol.
