A lot of us seem to have amnesia and have forgotten about the 2014 World Cup Draw.

Many of us seem to have forgotten how happy we got once Bosnia and Herzegovina was drawn into our group.

Some of the ignorant fans even immediately underestimated the Bosnian team from the draw all the way to the day we faced them.

Why do I remind you all this? Because you guys actually think our chances will be higher if we are moved to a higher pot. Yes there will be advantages. But this is the World Cup and the nature of unpredictability is always present in an event that comes around once every 4 years.

Sure, our team was very different. Yes, I would say this Iran has progressed since 2013-2014 and obviously will be more prepared having experienced yet another group-stage exit.

But please do not underestimate the other teams. People underestimated New Zealand in 2010 and Costa Rica in 2014. New Zealand left South Africa with 3 points in the bag and above Italy. Costa Rica took Holland to hell and back in the quarter-finals in 2014.

So while being in a better position in the draw will be helpful, we still need to get the job done. And we all saw today that friendlies vs teams like Russia are very important for our WC preparation.

no one is underestimating any team, but naturally if you are higher in pot, you avoid the stringer teams,and is better to be in higher pot any ways

Only deluded people thought our draw was very east in 2014. Bosnia had two world class players in Dzeko and Pjanic, yet here every one dismissed them.

Our best (and perhaps only chance, I am very angry at today's second half performance) of getting out of the groups in WC is getting Russia from Pot 1, and Panama/Honduras/Morocco in pot 4, or if Peru qualify them from pot 2.

I think we should hope for the hardest #1 seed and Easy #2 and #4 seed
Hopefully if we loose to #1 seed they will beat everyone in the group.
It would be nice to play #1 seed first.
Allows CQ to really prepare the kids for first game.

looks good to me. God help us with that second group. Spain being pot 2 is brutal. they're going to make whatever group they're in an absolute nightmare

i love the first group, panama is good but we can beat them, peru is beatable and russia we play them and didnt lose , like our chances

I did not calculate but it seems with USA out and Panama and Honduras or Australia in we are now on pot 3 or at least we have a very good chance that even new Zealand make it against Peru. I rate new zeal Chace highest against Peru before matchday. Now they seems to get this chance.

POT 1 : Avoid Brazil & Germany
POT 2 : Avoid Spain
POT 4 : Avoid Nigeria

If we avoid these teams then we have realistic chances of going to the 2nd round.
