Attack minded is way too risky when we have big weaknesses in the goalie position. Also, our defensive approach actually is the foundation of our attack, it is becuse we play defensive that players in other positions like RB and LB can move so far forward. You can only be successful in attacking formation when you have serious attacking threat, like South American teams, for us, our strength is our defense.

I think that depends on what you want to get out of being a football fan. Do you want you team to succeed (0 losses i WCQ) or do you want a risky yet more exciting football? I get so frustrated when I watch CQ tactics, especially against better teams where we defend and counterattack for 90 minutes. But then again I love the results, win after win or a draw here and there. Its been so long that we havent lost that I think that we are getting spoiled. Attacking football is funnier to watch, but we have to realise that we are going to lose a lot more then.

We need balance. I enjoy the current way our team plays under Queiroz, I also enjoyed under Ghotbi, Daei and even defense minded Talebi and Parvin.

Under Branko Team Melli played aweful. Although Persepolis under Branko has been good mostly. Queiroz 2011-2014 his style was too boring. 2015-present thumbs up for Queiroz.

For me it doesn't matter how the coach wants to play as long as they are organised, disciplined and confident that the way they want to play will get us results. I don't see Iran playing a different way and qualifying for the world cup in the same fashion.

We simply do not have the quality to attack against teams like Brazil and Germany. They're too good. We have to defend, be fitter and stronger, and attack when they look tired, complacent and sloppy.

The way we played against Argentina, in the WC, was unforgettable, so defense-minded it is.

Defensive minded for sure. It may not result in the "prettiest" football but with a solid defense you will be in every single game.

The fact that we have zero center backs in Europe (aside from Tafazolli who is in League One and hasn't even played for us yet) pretty much sums up what would happen if we played too offensive. Our tactics are boring but they work

I see we have a few more United fans compared to City here.

Jose Mourinho gets a lot of crap for his 'park the bus' tactics but at the end of the day he's had incredible success with it. With CQ, Iran are used to playing a more defensive style and utilizing a counter attack, and we've been quite effective so far; if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

                            Need a balanced headcoach.
                            P.S. MU lost today.

I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way.

If you want to play offensive entertaining football and be successful, you first need to have the players do to so. To get the ball to the likes of ghoddos, ARJ, Azmoun, Taremi, Karim, etc we need somebody who is capable of dictating play and controlling the game. We dont even possess ONE player like this, in the mold of a very technical deep lying player (like Modric, Cazorla, Jorginho,Kroos,Veratti etc) or a ball distributing CM/CDM (Busquets, Witsel,Pogba etc). In our deep midfield, we have two types of players : Destroyers, like Ezatolahi and ebrahimi, who can do some simple distribution to an ok level or just straight runners/workhorses, like Amiri and Hajsafi. None of these players can dictate the tempo of a game, because they are not good enough technically or aware enough of space and timing or able to have a vision of the whole field in their heads and think 4-5 passes ahead.

Now, a counter argument would be that for example Japan played pretty attractive football without having any of these standout players. But then you have to look at the teams strength as a whole. Japan dont have the ability to go physical on teams, or defend deep because their players can just physically be broken down by most opposition. They do have, as a whole team, very technically sound(not spectacular) and very quick personnel. So they can play quick short passes in triangles and try to find ways to get in behind the opposition defense with short balls. Guys like Taremi, Amiri, Ebrahimi, Hajsafi, etc dont have the technical quality to play such a style.

Then we come to the final main point, that is just to become e a competitive team when you once were not, you need to look at your greatest weaknesses and try to address them. Our defense before CQ era was SHOCKING. No resemblance of team defending, amplifying individual mistakes, so that we concede goal after goal to the likes of Bahrain, Korea, Saudi Arabia. Even a team like Arsenal with ball playing Cbs, plays in such a way where defending is a very individual aspect of their game, they leave their defenders isolated one on one all the time. If mustafi slips or is off balance in one instant, then top level forwards will just score for fun, because their is no insurance policy or help for him.

That is a disaster and no way to play if you want to be competitive.
CQ has fixed our defense as a collective unit after 8 long years, and is just now getting the personnel like Majid, PAG, Moharrami, Milad, etc that are technical enough to also start building from the back. With experience together, I am sure TM will start to play this way in more situations. If even after another 2-4 years, TMs style is still the same and has not changed at all, then one can argue we need a more offensive approach.
