We played very good up until that Penalty we conceded. Afterwards we lost our patience we had and started goal hunting and came to no prevail.

i dont think Panama expected us to come at them so hard at the start of the game, so they were a bit shellshocked ..! once they realized this was no laxed friendly they stepped up their intensity and started to press us tight in MF (espcially at start of 2nd half) and we simply couldnt dominate the proceedings after the 2nd goal, no matter how hard boys tried..!!
they actually surprised me with that...!! shows you the level and intensity of the matches we could be facing at WC even vs the weakest of qualified teams and how much more preparations we need to make a solid case for ourselves in Russia..!

Their A or B side, we need stronger opponents to test our real value. There’s an argument for step by step playing harder game but you can’t play a strong Russia and then drop down to this. Nevertheless it was an international and we all know how desperately we need them. Going up 2-0 so early in the game we started losing shape a bit and started seeing individual runs trying to score.

With Panama coming out in the second half and pressing us, it all of a sudden became a better more physical and testing game for our lads. What CQ learned was that we are susceptible with balls dropping behind our back 4 specially on the wings with wingers like Ghodos not tracking back.

Beiro once again showed that he’s not comfortable on aerial challenges - in the past he’s gone to catch the ball and dropped it. At least he’s learned to make up his mind and not be left between two worlds and drop the ball. Opponents will study his weaknesses, we need to test other goalies for sure.

Well when u start being a GK at age 15-16, and only started getting proper GK training two years ago , you could see easily how beiranvand is lacking in the fundamentals . But even with these clear limitations, his physique and natural talent is so tremendous that he can single handedly save games ( saving that free kick vs russia )

We tried playing position football and actually control the game in the 1st half something we don't usually see from TM.

Thank you as always to my PFDC family for keeping us updated! Unfortunately was not able to watch the game in real time, but will do so later today.

Some people seem disappointed. But at the end of the day though, having a friendly against a WC participant is never a bad thing, and considering our perpetual lack of match preparation it's nice the boys get some game time. This experience will be crucial and could pay off in our quest to get to the knockout rounds next year!
