That's so ridiculous that you want something like that.

What's up with some people so desperate for Iran to play against big names. It's one thing to hope for a friendly against those teams but to actually wish for at the WC is insane.

I could care less if we are in a group with the least recognizable footballing nations. All I care about is making it past the group stage and that realistically can happen if we are in a weak group. In a group of death kind of situation, even the most optimistic fan must know we will likely go home with 0 points.

It is impossible for Iran to get the 8-0ers as there can only be one Asian team in each group. This 1 team per confederation applies to all zones except Europe. There can be 2 European teams in each group.

Of course we hope we do good but even if it happen it will be like winning in LOTTO and is just a luck without deserving it fully but if we play good teams and try our best it will give us a lot of experiences to build up on it! Of course a bunch of youngsters don’t understand it and are after easy way. I really won’t see the point when I see the level of football we have compared to even teams in second pot.
But I wish TM good luck as all of you!

I like to get Serbia. As a quality but underrated European lineup, they are going to challenge all of the other 3 teams. This means the dynamics of the group will be unpredictable and Iran will have a chance via the element of luck, as Serbia will most likely extract out points or goal difference from others. But if you place two very strong and two weak teams in the same group, there will be hardly any surprises as to who goes to the round of 16. Very boring.

I am thinking of US national team coming out of the group with Germany, Portugal and Ghana in 2014. Who would have considered that to be possible back then.

Panama, by way and by far, on paper one of the few teams really weaker than iran in terms of quAlity. None of their players have big tournament experience and during qualification they struggled immensely.
