I watched the Persepolis Zob Ahan game and I gotta say that if Zob Ahan doesn’t pick it up for the ACL, they might not do that well. Please keep in mind that I’m actually a big fan of Zob Ahan when it comes ACL. But I’m also worried about them. They will lose Pahlevan and a few more to sarbazi. As decent as a coach Ghalenoei is, his team will have a hard time if they can’t compete against semifinalists Persepolis.
And let’s be honest, Persepolis was fully deserving of getting that far into the tournament. They prove week in and week out in the PGL that they are Iran’s top team at the moment. Just look at how well Menshah is playing these days. Holy %#$&.. I don’t doubt that they’ll make it out of their respective group but Zob Ahan I’m worried about. I know one performance shouldn’t paint the whole picture, but damn. Zob Ahan was dominated by Persepolis which to me was a clear indication that they might not be ready for Asia in 2018.
Group D is the group of death with Al Ain more likely taking that playoff spot to join Al Hilal and Esteghlal.
The remaining Iranian clubs have a good chance to make it out of the group stages.
