Originally posted by NFL View PostLook, I really don't know anything about this coach, but he is damn right about the "Shit Questions". Iranian reporters are masters when it comes to "Shit Questions". so I don't blame him for saying this, although I wouldn't have used the "shit" word here. I may have used "crappy".
overall thoughts on the match :
PP started well which was expected due to crowd factor, but were way too passive, slow for so much of the game. This in my eyes is on Branko and his personnel. He eventually realized his mistake and introduced Resan which made a difference, but mosalman needs to be on that pitch too. Amiri, Ahmadzadeh, Mahini do not cut it all.
Moharrami was excellent as usual. Sometimes he rushes his final cross, and is still somewhat suspect defensively, especially aerially. But in terms of pure footballing talent, he is a gem that can really progress in a club like Dinamo Zagreb. If this was to be his last match as reported, PP will certainly miss him as he is one of their few fast, aggressive, forward thinking players. Him not getting a call up was a damn shame.
Nourallahi was very good. Besides his shot, he dictated play well, didnt lose possession that much, and contributed offensively and defensively. However, it must be said that Al Jazira were on extremely low press, basically parking the bus. Iranian midfielders issues are when they are pressed by the opposition, they are physically weak, and tactically / technically not sound enough to think multiple steps ahead and thus they are dispossessed. When they have time and space they are actually decent, like Ebrahimi is for Esteghlal in league play. But when they are in physical, international environment with opposition snapping away at their heels, they struggle to keep the ball for more than 20 seconds, let alone influence the game
PP need to play mosalman and resan. Alipour, nemati got such little service today it was sad. Willing the ball in, using brute force will work but only to an extent. Creativity and ability to make a penetrative run or find a key pass is going to be needed in the next round and the players that started the match simply do not have it.
Beira's should have done better on that goal, but it was a difficult shot that came through bodies. I have seen countless goals scored on european GK's of international level. We have him under such a microscope here that its ridiculous. Literally every time this guy concedes a goal we have a meltdown. The goal Portugal's number one conceded yesterday was many more times of a howler than any I have seen Beiranvand commit. With that being said, I am not confident with him in TM goal either and think CQ should at least test out Mazaheri. One thing I will say is that his confidence really seems to be affected when he makes mistakes. After he let in that goal, you could tell he was very dissapointed and it showed when he nearly fucked up on Al Jazira's chance in the dying seconds.
Lets hope PP get Al sadd and not duhail in the next round. They can beat al sadd again like they have already showed. Not so sure about Duhail though, would rather have SS face them.
