You guys are delusional. This England team is nothing like their predecessors. They are really strong this time.

Guys, am I missing something here?

I don't think there is anything controversial in saying that Iran is one of the weaker Pot 3 teams (in terms of pedigree) and Japan is one of the stronger Pot 4 teams?

So much arrogance from a team whose sole achievement was winning the Cup 52 years ago on home soil. No wonder they keep failing and failing.

We won't receive a fair reputation unless we make it to the round of 16.

For that to happen, we may have to face off against big guns and make a reputation of ourselves.
That means we not be satisfied with guatemalas, jamaicas, togo's, ... of the world and start playing big names.
(KSA, for example has played or are planning to play all the top 10 teams of the world!! From brazil, germany, france, .... to belgium. same thing for japan and south korea, who play big guns frequently)

This however may not be CQ's plan apparently
Either he doesnt want to demoralize the TM if they lose big, or doesnt want to show Iran's style and strengths.
while this mindset has its own merits, it definitely has its disadvantage too. By keeping us away, our players also WILL BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD AND BY SURPRISE when they finally meet big guns. and that being new to them, they may be overcome by the pedigree or reputation of the opponents that may undermine or disrupt their own abilities.
I'd say we can certainly avoid the A grade teams, but why not the B class (like croatia, poland, switzerland, paraguay, uruguay, morocco, ... )? That would be very beneficial to us

            spot on.
I think we speak emotionally and out of our sense of nationalism that often clouds our judgement

The main problem is the press and the pundits tbh. It's gotten to a point where the English fans know how bad England are and pretty much hate the NT and international breaks. They were literally sending hundreds of emails for the Brazil game and it still didn't sell out.

England would be a tough test for Iran.
From what I have learned, Iran fares better against non-European teams for some reason.

England is a actually a sneaky good team this time and should be good for the next decade with the youth coming up for them.
To think we would easily beat them is outrageous and delusional.

But still they prefer Iran to Tunisia, the weakest African side in 2018.

This is a much worse team than the 2002 or 2006 or even 2010 teams.

england is the most over rated team in the world cup, i swear, they are 1 trick pony, and thier pony is harry kane, he dont play, they do jack shit, he play they have a chance, however i like our chances if we would have played england in 1998 or 2006 i would be scared, this england team is not strong, i am not too concern

Are you sure they aren't better than the 2010 team? I remember Green was their GK and had bunch of aging players.

Now they have Kane, Rashford, Walker, and Butland as GK. They are def much better now.

I do miss the 2002 England team with Becks.

I agree that our next 2 friendlies needs to have a "B" level team as you mentioned.

We definitely need to play against at least 1 B Level European and 1 B Level African side.

2010 on paper was a great team, they just missed up big time because Capello was an arrogant coach.

Agreed, the mainstream pundits are pretty bad.
I listen to the Totally Football Show Podcast and sometimes the Guardian Football Weekly - if you listen to them you'd think they actually don't rate England very high.
