If you watched the game you would see that it’s was basically England parking the bus. Boring and uninspiring. They have a lot of talented young players but with England that means nothing as they can never play together. Trust me I’ve always been a firm supporter of them but after years and years of failure and delusion, I’ve given up on them.

Their B team played a superior Brazil team. Obviously they are going to park the bus?? How do you think Iran would tactically play a superior opponent? all out attack? We definitely are not a weak team, as our past 2-3 years of international performances have proved us to be a sturdy and quite solid team, especially defensively. However to get offended and emotional by BBC article's assumption is a bit unrealistic.

Yes we're number one team is Asia and we've rightfully possessed that title for over 2 years now, therefore we definitely have proven to be better than South Korea, and on paper better than Japan and even Australia, however the WC track record of a team like Japan has been a lot more consistent well-achieved than us, while on numerous occasions in several WCs having advanced from their group stage, thus a more remarkable display and recognition from the world.

Once again I am not advocating for the English or as a matter fact any other nation who may undermine us. On the contrary such underestimation by other countries make me hopeful for them to take our team lightly and not too serious in World Cup, so that we may punish them in the right places and spots!

^ Taking any team lightly will punish them. Nigeria (pot4) trashed Argentina (pot 1), 4-2 IN ARGENTINA yesterday. Nowadays there are no weak teams anymore and claiming anything like that, is either stupid or ignorant. That's an old story, everybody in Europe thinks Japan or South Korea are the best teams in Asia. They don't realize that Iran is the Nr. 1 in Asia, but anyway that's just how the ordinary people here think. I'm quite sure, that every Coach in the WC knows, that you have to take Iran serious.

fuck england. they havent done anything since the 60s. They act as if they are title contenders every world cup. The problem is that most of the world views us as minnows and big ups korea and japan because of what they did in 2002. Although the koreans were massive cheaters and benefited from really bad refereeing that world cup. The reality is that until we win some matches at the world cup and advance into the knockout stages no one will give us respect.

You're right. But the thing they got wrong is picking Iran as the weak link in pot 3. I think we're actually one of the strongest teams in pot 3, because we're better tactically, have better chemistry, and decent fire power compared to the likes of Costa Rica, Tunisia, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Serbia, etc

Frankly I don't see too much wrong with the article, in pot 3 we are the weakest team on paper. Even Costa Rica is stronger on paper, they were in the Quarter Finals in Brazil and were 8th in the World cup ranking. So natural that we will be picked as a choice team for all stronger teams from pot 3.

What teams are on paper is not determined by past world cup results, because results from for years ago are irrelevant for determining strength on paper today. On paper means current results and current quality within the team.

Bro Denmark has quality players. Have you ever heard of Erikson? Iran can COMPETE with most of these teams, yes, but please do not act, even for a milisecond that we will be favored to beat the likes of Sweden and Denmark. Sweden just beat Italy to qualify. A weak italian side is better than every single team we played in qualification.
