I think in 2014 we got a decent draw. We could’ve gotten another team instead of Bosnia. I remember everyone was happy with our group. We didn’t underestimate our opponents, we were just hopeful that we can make something happen.

were not horrible results considering how everyone wrote us off. How Mazic didn’t call that penalty, how we played well vs Argentina, how Italy Spain and England were eliminated before we were.

This time smart football analysts have come out and announced us as the dark horse. I honestly don’t care who we’re grouped with. Obviously I want us to make the round of 16. But it is like a game of dice. The World Cup draw is a game of chance. You never know who you’ll end up with and we could be in the group of death. We will gain a lot of experience from this tournament.

Being a part of a World Cup is honestly the best thing that can happen for our talented youth. They want to be there too. So they will be very eager to fight for 2022 and become the next Sardar Azmoun or Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

I hope Team Melli won't be grouped with the host nation and several other Hooligan teams. Host nation will do anything to cheat their way to reach the semi-finals as the minimum. As I had said before we need the 3 P's Poland, Peru and Panama for best chance of reaching Round of 16. Any other combination we will see a repeat of our previous performances at past world cups.

TBH I'm not sure if Panama would be a good option. I mean they would be the punching bag of the group and at the end it would come to goal difference and we all know Iran is not known for scoring many goals.
Let's say we get France, Peru, Panama. I could imagine a scenario where we'll have the same amount of points as Peru but they'll go through just because of the goal difference. That's why I hope we get Serbia instead.
