What do you mean by "not the same player anymore" , he is a world apart to what he was 10 years ago and has yet to dip since reaching this new level . And I'm saying this as someone who really dislikes him otherwise and was always more of a Messi fan.


He had a huge amount of development in those early years. In the 2006 world cup game he was still very much a raw talent, now he still has 2-3 years of being world class left. But portugal as a whole had more talent elsewhere in that world cup: Deco was the star player and he was at his peak.

Toughest group we could possibly get which makes me sad but also proud that we are there. At least we can enjoy three games with high calibre opponents, I hope we make the best of it. I'm faithful that we can gain respect and beat Morocco.

In a way CQ can turn the group into our advantage.

against the top two we KNOW the pressure is on the opponents and we're not expected to win. So we can go into those games with next to no pressure whatsoever. A relaxed TM, confident of its own strenghts can always surprise.
So all CQ has to do is focus 70-80% of our efforts and planning on the MOROCCO game. That game is to be looked as our be all and end all.

And since it's our first game, once we get that done with (hopefully successfully), not only do we have the 'no pressure' situation, but a confidence booster.
It all depends on how we prepare ourselves

We are screwed, but at least we can just expect nothing. Morocco is the do or die game, good that we have all our guys fresh for it. Only negative is no saeid. If we get a result there, massive if, then we will be confident going into spain. This is where our preparation s key because we need to play one opponent that moves the ball with the speed and one touch passing spain do, so we will have be used to it as possible, have a better chance of doing something about it. This game will be like ARgentina except we will have much more quality upfront.
Game vs Portugal is what it could come down and if we need a point, I actually fancy our chances to get it.
Side note, I would definitely start Taremi vs Spain, Portugal , not vs Morocco. We have little chance vs Spain Portugal ( especially Spain ), and taremi is such a complete retard he wont even realize who he is playing against, and we will play the same way vs Spain as he would against Sepidrood, which in this case is a positive. Whereas guys like ARJ might freeze up bc of quality of opposition,knowledge of big names, a guy like taremi will just follow his footballing instinct and has the best chance of doing something miraculous. A real wildcard.

Wow, the pessimism on this forum is unreal! Yes, we got screwed over by getting one of, it not the toughest group that we could possibly get. But let’s just have faith in our team, if they have good preparation before the WC and bring some momentum into the tournament anything can happen!
