Eh, we hear this all the time. Every time Iran makes the WC, Iranians have a collective panic attack about the teams in their group. Every time, Iran ends up playing decent football so I'm not worried about the group. Do you people hinestly think playing against Russia in front of its own fans and taking on Uruguay would be easier than playing Spain and Portugal? I think not.

    Anyway, here are my takeaways:

    1. Our first game against Morocco is the best thing that could have happened in a group like this. If we can get the three points there, we will have momentum going forward and it is not impossible to knick a goal or even goalless draw against Portugal.

    2. CQ knows Portugese and Spanish football well so he will prepare the team well for those games. I expect a full-on defensive display against both similar to the Argentina game.

    3. The Portugal-Spain game being the first one in the group is good news because this means that they won't be able to play out a draw in the final game.

    4. Morocco is a very tough team to play against since 21/23 of their players play in Europe. Beating them will require a lot of hard work and is by no means a given.

I’m happy we will have Saeid Ezatolahi back for our 2nd group game.

Definitely our next coach after CQ:

        Herve Renard

The king of the African Nations Cup, Renard and his crisp white shirt have won that tournament twice, with Zambia and Ivory Coast, but he has yet to manage at the World Cup. The two European teams will be favourites to progress, but Renard's history of producing unexpected results at major tournaments could spoil that prediction.

It is to our advantage that everyone writes us off. Most obviously predict Spain and Portugal to advance, with Morocco being a potential dark horse that can upset. Heck, the guys on the ESPN video almost pretended Iran did not even exist!!, or was just there to fill the spot of a 4th team
We are in a perfect position to strike from the shadows.

We play better as a team than we did in 2014, and we have more trump cards in the form of players such as Ghoddos and SARDAR! Sardar Azmoun is the key for Iran pulling a major upset and surprise the world.
Guys, its not all doom and gloom.
I mean yeah, if I was a betting man, I would place my bets on Spain and Portugal. But sometimes football defies "logic" and it all boils down to who wants it the most and has the most heart. Case and point Argentina match WC2014, which could easily have ended in a win for us, had we had a bit of luck. And luck also plays in as a factor. We shocked the Argentinian team and the world with our performance, and we are certainly capable of doing it again.

          Bring it on!!

            WC2022 here we come!

I feel bad for TM. They played so hard in the group qualifiers but Lady Luck decided to give us the hardest group at WC. If we are good enough we may get through the group stage but we are certainly the rank outsiders. I think getting a win would be a major achievement against any of the teams in our group as they are all top class. The battle of the Liberian Peninsula begins!

Do nor forget we also beat south Korea with ease in the qualifiers in iran.. If iran gets good preparation we are capable of doing great things!

The only way to qualify is to be very good against Morroco and win.
At the same time Portugal has to be off and lose badly to Spain.
The. Against Spain we have to defend like crazy and lose by 1 max 2.
Morocco has to play smart and draw Portugal. The in our last game we have to give all to squeeze a lucky draw while Spain defeat Morroco.

This is realistic but WE have to play at our very best and Portugal at their lowest..

To be honest chances of being 4th in this group is high. Hoping the best but realistically our team needs to level up by a lot to get there. Maybe if we pull an Argentina performance again... but that only happened once.

                        Areal game strategy

Iran is the tallest team in this group and with Hosseini and Azmoun, has two strong headers of the ball. Furthermore, the addition of Ghoddos means powerfull shots from outside the box which can lead to direct goals, rebound goals by Azmoun and corners.

TM needs to strenghten it's delivery from set pieces and crosses to capitalize on the height advantage of Iran's team.

Previously we had Teimourian, Shojaei, Nekounam and others, but currently we have no great set piece takers, nor high crossers.

Queiroz needs to address this issue asap, as areal supremacy may be the key to get points from these short mediterranian teams .

Using areal game would play to Iran's strength and may be a key strategy to survive in this very strong group.

Exactly bro, Progressing to the next round is good because you meet great teams, in this world cup we are already granted two great teams in group stage. It's all good.
