Eh, we hear this all the time. Every time Iran makes the WC, Iranians have a collective panic attack about the teams in their group. Every time, Iran ends up playing decent football so I'm not worried about the group. Do you people hinestly think playing against Russia in front of its own fans and taking on Uruguay would be easier than playing Spain and Portugal? I think not.
Anyway, here are my takeaways:
1. Our first game against Morocco is the best thing that could have happened in a group like this. If we can get the three points there, we will have momentum going forward and it is not impossible to knick a goal or even goalless draw against Portugal.
2. CQ knows Portugese and Spanish football well so he will prepare the team well for those games. I expect a full-on defensive display against both similar to the Argentina game.
3. The Portugal-Spain game being the first one in the group is good news because this means that they won't be able to play out a draw in the final game.
4. Morocco is a very tough team to play against since 21/23 of their players play in Europe. Beating them will require a lot of hard work and is by no means a given.
