Libya is terrible. Morocco is different class so Tunisia would be more beneficial.

exactly. Libya is a barely a country let alone reasonable preparation. That is why we will end up playing them, bc our federation can only do the cheapest and weakest teams, because all of the money given to them gets corrupted to various private individuals and their wives. Ridiculous as it sounds this is the truth

Well Libya is 77th right now, not an ideal opponent to prep for a WC but we did still play shitty Togo with their 133rd(ish) ranking so... do what you will with that info lol. Personally I don't know how to feel about that but they're not "terrible".

Well togo are actually a decent team with some good legionairres. Ilyas Bebou for instance is doing great in Hannover in Bundesliga but I remember him being pretty much shut down vs our defense. Mlapa is in second div bundesliga but played in monchengladbach last few years. Their right back vs us played for getafe, their left wing was dossievi, experienced winger who plays in Ligue 1. Plus some other players who played in smaller leagues like switzerland. They were missing adebayor and Romao that game but thats pretty much it. Definitely not a horrible friendly

At this rate , I think we will play friendlies against whatever is left of Yemen, whatever is left of Libya, and Somali pirates FC, not to be confused with Bandar abbas pirates FC.

Libya is a great preparation for the likes of Bahrain and Oman. Dame IFF garm, they are already planning for Asia cup. I love Taj, he is a genius!

Tunisia, might happen but their football is the least similar to Morocco.
Egypt, this would be a good friendly, but their gov also hates Iran and a few bucks here and there from Saudi will make sure that Iran and Egypt never even sign a contract.

                      Summary: we'll probably play Tunisia
we play tunasia and algeria is still good, we need a european one strong latin or european one!and what is a aus friendly going to do for us?

"Actually decent team" is piss poor in FIFA rankings at 123rd while terrible team (Libya) is 77th. Idk what logic this comes from but FIFA rankings clearly disagrees by miles

Libya I agree is pathetic excuse for a friendly. I was just noting that the Togo friendly, especially as a first friendly that was followed by russia, was acceptable. As were the panama and venezuela friendlies. But the names being mentioned now, hungary and libya arent going to prepare us for shit. If algeria is true, then that is great, so is turkey. But that still means we need 1-2 games with teams the level of Belgium, Poland, Uruguay. Then the one additional non fifa day friendly vs Uzbekistan is good for the domestic players, plus a friendly in the camp to get confidence up before we start ( Vs Jamaica, Trinidad, whatever). That would be a good preparation. What is key is getting those friendlies vs big teams.

It's very telling that 123rd ranked African team has players all over European leagues, while Iran as the best ranked Asian team has to force itself to have players in Belgium and Netherlands.

All of the people thinking Morocco are "better" than us because they have players all over Europe should understand. If we were Morocco politically with our current talent, guys like Azmoun, ARJ, Taremi, etc. would have been cherry picked by big team's academies in their teenage years. People put too much emphasis on clubs where players play. We've played plenty of teams with many many legionnaires, and outside of Ibrahimovic and Messi, I can't remember one who thoroughly outplayed us and made us look foolish. Our players have the talent, but we don't get the same opportunities as even the 123rd ranked team in the world.

I have a feeling the TM boys know this, and will be kicking the door placed in front of Iranians down in 6 months. Sardar will make a fool of Mighty Mehdi Benatia. You heard it here first.

Interesting, so apparently, in CQ's world cup preparation plan booklet thing, along with friendlies that CQ wants, there is also a schedule of club matches for our legionnaires and the interesting thing, is that Peterborough, Toronto FC, and Al-Khor are also on this schedule. This means CQ still has his eyes on Tafazolli, Beitashour, and Soroush, but Davari seems to be out of the picture for good. Also, as others here have mentioned, CQ is very intent on playing one of Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, or all three

Damn man this comment was both funny and sadly true at the same time. I laughed and then sighed in disappointment.
