They have some fast players and that is it. On the other end, their defense is shocking and I am sure Salah will score a few, and if you guys have a center forward who is good in the air, that will screw them as well . Overall a shitty team.
I definitely expect the 3 points in a comprehensive way as I've watched their last three matches and they didn't really impress. Small sample size though and I imagine they'll try to play on the counter against us.

I don't think a single Saudi player makes our 11. One of our nonstarters played in their league and absolutely tore it up. We're good in the air as are a couple of our strikers so that's a bonus if they're as bad as you say they are.

if we play peru and algeria is good friendlies, providing they both bring thier A team, i know peru will not sure about algeria, if gerrero play it will be a issue, and is good, he can test our defense, i remmber he scored for bayern in 2004, when he came with bayern to tehran to play pp

How's that a great friendly? We have shown time after time, we don't have much problem with South American teams. Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, are all proof of that. But we wont be playing against any South American team in the WC!!! We need friendlies with European teams!!!!

Playing against Qatar, Uzbekistan or Iraq is just a waste of time, even if it's with our PGL based players! We don't need AC preparations!

I thought finding friendlies would get much easier now than the last time. When it comes to IFF boss, team prestige and even politically we are in a "relatively" higher status than the last time!!! What's going on?!! This is so frustrating!

is not bad, south american have flair, like spanish, we can use that for a good friendly, and peru will push us. with all our problems , peru friendly i will take it, we saw colombia disrepceting us and refusing to play us,peru is a good friendly and we can take our revenge over the 1978 world cup which we got hammered 4-1

I agree with you about Qatar, Uzbekistan and Iraq being waste of time as I said before playing against Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba are better than playing against usual Asian opponents.

Peru - 1. Play fast and physical Latin Football just like Portugal and Spain.
            2. They have a Super Star Player Jefferson Farfan [ their version of CR7, Morata, etc]
            3. They speak Spanish this makes our players get used to opponents communicating on the field maybe they'll become fluent in Spanish by the time when World Cup starts

We need to focus on the European teams with playing styles similar to Spain, Portugal and Morocco and only top South American national teams like Brazil or Argentina. Every other friendly is a waste of time!

Much more physical, and all with a different range of styles, whereas japan's current attacking guys are all very similar.
You forgot Okazaki. Not to mention his usual defensive contribution, he's been very productive in front of goal this season in England.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! We should be playing lots of European teams! I just don't get why we still have the usual friendly problems and have to rely on last minute desperate decisions! At the very least, we need to be playing with Italy, Holland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and Iceland. I'm not even gonna mention teams like Sweden/Denmark.

We shouldn't even be talking about friendlies with Uzbekistan, Qatar and Iraq at this stage!! We should not have time to think about South American teams, unless they are Brazil or Argentina. Yet I see the same problem repeating itself every time, no matter what!!! It cannot be IFF as you can clearly see Taj and company are working their a$$es off to pull things off.

We need to spend money or teams wont be playing against us. and for some strange reason, the money isn't there every time!!! I think that's the problem!

I said it many times FFIRI is not at fault.

                      Problems are:

                      1. Many countries fear our Team or are envious towards our team and do not want to play us or pay our team since our ranking is good. Example likes of Colombia, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary. Others who were interested to play us did not as negotiations fall through or postponed the likes of postponed Chile, Sweden, Russia, Venezuela that eventually played a year or more after the initial date of interest, fallen negotiations prior to planning a match likes of Ivory Coast, Morocco, Peru, Paraguay, Gabon, DR Congo, Turkey, Romania, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Albania (few times already), canceled ones like Ghana (FFIRI canceled the camp in Portugal), Croatia, Venezuela (twice canceled in 2011 and then few years later), Cuba, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, North Korea (Canceled by CQ), Palestine (canceled to please Saudi Arabia and screw our team), Kenya (maliciously canceled by Kenya for financial reason) , Ukraine, Norway (still unknown why got canceled)

                      2. CQ does not want Iran to host European or Latin American teams. Last time Team Melli hosted European was Macedonia in 2009!

                      3. CQ does not want Team Melli to play high ranked teams. Throughout his time as coach the best friendlies we got were Sweden and Chile. He is insisting domestic league players face the likes of Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Uzbekistan, Iraq, etc.

                      4. CQ is very picky about training camps and the strange thing is everytime Team Melli went on camps abroad never played the host team!!! Few camps to Austria our team had where they played other teams not the home team, there were camps in Hungary, Turkey, South Africa, Armenia and never played home teams there!!!
I think the only away teams in friendly were Sweden in 2015, Macedonia in 2016, Montenegro and Russia in 2017!

Iran had established good relations with some teams which now has changed ever since current FFIRI and CQ came on board, for example Bosnia-Herzegovina from 2001-2009 Team Melli played a total of 5 friendlies with them, Croatia 1998-2006 played 2 friendlies, Jamaica 1998-2007 played 2, Costa Rica 2006-2008 played 2, Canada 1997-2001 played 3, Kenya 1997-1999 played 2.

Under current FFIRI and CQ good relations with Angola, Macedonia has been retained and newly established relations with likes of Montenegro and Albania.

Part of the reason could be political eg. Big teams came to Tehran such as Germany in 2004, Slovakia in 2002, Hungary in 1998, Paraguay in 2002, Uruguay came once or twice for LG Cup but did not play us as they played other teams. They never came to Tehran and never invited our teams for friendlies apart from Paraguay who showed interest throughout the years but friendly with them never happen again! Egypt played TM in 2000 but then due to political issues never played TM, Canada also closed embassy in past few years and I guess hence reason for no more friendlies with them.

I see a lot of people saying we shouldn't play Peru bc they are not in Europe. Since when teams from the same continent played the same style of Football. If thats the case than Portugal and Spain should have friendlies against Japan or UAE to prepare for Iran! No asian team plays like Iran.

Iran needs to play stronger opponents to learn how to defend and counter attack under pressure. Iran never really dealt with that in Asia.

Both Peru and Australia are in the same group. Are we going to play these teams in Iran or where? Have they invited us or have we invited these teams? It sounds like they have picked us. I think we can now drop Usbekistan.

Iran's style differs with the rest of the Asian teams' but physically and technically, we are still an Asian team. As said, we have shown time and again that we have less problems against South American teams. You can not say the same about European teams. In fact, just the contrary. South American teams in general don't have the physical strength and stamina of the European players (counting out Brazil and Argentina). and that's exactly what we've always had problems with! We need to get training against physically strong and fast teams if we want to have any chance of holding on against them. Playing Peru will not in any way help us to exercise playing against Ronaldos and Iniestas!
