If Gucci is left out of the final squad I will be heartbroken - he was our light in very dark days. Karim back then couldn't score for shit and was a complete let down the entire WCQ 2014 campaign while Gucci saved our ass every single time. Gucci is much more of a value regardless his current club form.

I am really worried with some of our fellow members here who say Sardar Azmoun should be left out... Am I reading this correctly??? The same Sardar Azmoun who has scored the most goals for Team Melli and is easily one of our best players alongside Dejagah...
Who gives a shit if he has been in a slump for Rubin?? I could care less about his Rubin performances as long as he performs for TM which he has most times than not.
CQ made a bad decision leaving Sardar out of the 2014 WC team and I am sure he won't make that mistake again.
All 4 strikers are worthy to make the team but if I had to choose, the choice is obvious with Kaveh. His chemistry with the others isn't there yet, but Karim/Reza have both experience and chemistry with other players.

The only way we can score against giants like Spain and Portugal will be on the counter-attack (as we played against Argentina), and Karim is simply not a counter-attacking forward.
Karim plays a target man style, who can hold and protect the ball with his back to the net because of his size. Karim fits a style of team that plays possession and holds the ball - not the style that we will have to play.
Gucci and Rezaei are both counter-attacking style strikers. Both have great speed and can make individual efforts towards goal, something that is necessary for counter-attacking style.
I'm not saying Karim isn't a great striker. I'm just saying that he won't fit the style that CQ will play against Spain and Portugal. We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

All of these players have dreams of going to the WC and telling them you are not part of it is very painful but it needs to be done.
I am sure cutting Khalatbari was very difficult for him in 2014

Trust me, TWO out of the three you mention will be left out.
CQ takes 3 forwards for these tournaments, which makes sense based on the tempo that the defenders and midfielders have to play at.
In 2014 he took Dejagah (as a forward), Gucci, Ansarifard.
Now he is going to take Azmoun, Taremi, and one other out of Kaveh/Ansarifard/Gucci.
Mark my words that he will cut two out of the latter which will be VERY tough choices. At the moment I would take Kaveh but it is so tough to choose.

It's a real tough call TBH. I feel for CQ man, such a hard task. But if I had to make the call today, despite his startling recent display with his club, I have cross out Kaveh Rezaei. Although it's too soon, and we have to wait till a few months prior to the WC and see whose performance and overall condition overpowers the other 2.
