Why?
He is not the most important player we have. I mean I dont say he shouldnt be in the squad but his playing style doesnt mach with the counter football CQ plays. Masoud speeds down the game soooo often.
So I am still not what to think about him for this wc

Masoud had something that nobody of our players have, he is maybe our most experienced player, even if he not play he will be an added value for the team. He is respected by everyone he has surely a lot of thing to do and to say to the player to keep their head on their shoulders, which will allow us to go through the next stage

Why? Uhh i don't know maybe because he is one of the best CAM's we have? Unless you think Taremi or Amiri will do a better job as CAM. Also Dejagah is still without a club.

He is the only playmaker Iran has had for along time. his style of play is like no other Iranian player. He is a natural ball distributor. We really need him. I hope CQ uses his influence to bring him back.

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree. IMO if there is a single player we absolut should have in our squad in the WC is Masoud. He's one of our international player who's very experienced, great form and still lot to contribute. Not to mention his experience from La Liga and his playing style which suites very well for the game against Spain and Portugal.

Masoud is the only player we have who can keep and control the ball. In the game against Spain it will be extreme important to calm down the game. If just concentrate on counter attacks we will loose the ball will be killed by the spanish pressure on our defence.
Please just watch closely the game against Argentina. He filled out this role excellent.

Exactly. I'm surprised no one remembers this.
He did that and no one said anything. He still played for TM and there were no weird political messages.
Obviously he didn't travel to Israel, but it was kind of refreshing to not have something like that be followed by 3 weeks of politics.

Not only are Masoud and Ashkan the best options for CAM, they are the only options. Besides them the only CAM we have is dariush Shojaeian who clearly isnt at the level of quality or experience of either of the two. Masoud playing in a strong team like AEK, participating in Europa League, etc is fantastic and ensures he will be in good shape for WC, hope something similar happens to dejagah. As some members mentioned, masoud slows our game down and that is a negative of his game, but unfortunately besides dejagah, masoud is the only player we have capable of keeping the ball, controlling the tempo. And we are going to need both of these players in Russia as neither are 90 minute players, let alone 3 + 90 minute games at that level and that amount of time.

argentina played with speed and he was great against them. But overall I agree that speed takes him out of the game, hence why dejagah is a superior player.

Lol the pace argument should easily be debunked. Sure, a CAM with pace is very attractive, but the most important quality that a CAM needs is vision and dribbling.

Masoud has both.

Now lets compare CAM's on Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

Spain has David Silva, Cazorla, and Juan Mata, all three of which are barely faster than Masoud (Cazorla might even be slower)

Morocco has Ziyech, who is faster than the Spanish CAM's and Masoud, but about as fast as Dejagah and much younger (24 years old)

Portugal has Joao Moutinho, who's probably as fast as Silva and Mata.

It is actually very easy to argue he is our most important player. If you’ve watched CQ’s interviews over the last 6-7 years you’ll notice how strong his emphasis is on the subject of international experience and experience at the highest level in football. Masoud not only has that but he also did really well when he was there. The more players like him we have (which you can only really say Dejagah has), the less nerves will factor into our games vs Spain and Portugal which will be a factor for guys like PAG who are star struck by players on those teams.
