Oh and btw I just looked up the stats of Esteghlal's match:

    (Esteghlal - Al Hilal)

    Shots 17 - 11

    Shots on target 8 - 2

    Corners 6 - 2

Ball possession 40 - 60, which is not that crazy considering that we were leading for an entire half.

And Shojaeian being deprived from a goal is not even visible in the game stats.

So even if one has not watched the match or the highlights, even the stats clearly show our dominance today.
Persian Pride running through my veins!

    Esteghlal for life!!

He can't expect to play every game. I rate Hosseini better but he's been playing in the place of Rahmati for league games so im not surprised to see Rahmati get a start here.

How PP lost to Al Sadd is a different story. I didn't watch the entire match.
Lol u don't think we won comfortably? I'd stay its pretty comfortable when you have multiple great chances and create a red card for the other team...

Schafer>Brangoh.. Sorry man, Esteghlal is looking better right now.

I saw both matches now. So I can say definitely some of my points stand still.

I congratulate SS for now but you should know the difference of Al Hilal of last year and now. In group stage PP draw with Al Hilal with its full force and we lost on that stupid match 4-0 because Taremi was out of the team a couple days before our match so basically our offensive force was reduced in half. But it was still an embarrassing performance which I do not defend it just like today match. When we play garbage and have no game plan, there is no room for support.

SS played a lot better compared to PP today. New signings helped SS at this moment but PP's transfer ban and stupid game plan by Branko hit us hard.

We have lost Soroush Rafie and Ramin Rezaian. Both of them could help us today. I am sure If Nourallahi and Alisha didn't leave PP and Taremi didn't screw up on his transfer, PP had a great chance of wining the ACL last year. Our team draw twice with Al Hilal in group matches but both Rezaian and Soroush were out of team and Taremi was pulled out in last moment which hit the team game plan and spirit. Otherwise, PP should have at least draw on semifinal. Second match was a total clown referee which gave a BS penalty to Al Hilal and didn't give an obvious handball in Al Hilal to us in the box. PP could defeat Al Hilal on semi. We were simply bad luck and mismanaged.

The fact that we are still playing on neutral venue is a total joke because SS and PP can destroy these Saudi teams in Azadi.

Nourallahi is great - why doesn't Branko play him from start? He would beefen up their midfield.

How was Shojaeian? He looked outstanding in the highlights, everything went through him.

we should also give credit to PAG. We have given him a fair amount of criticism for staying in Qatar, and while we all want him to go to europe ASAP, his team is clearly at a high level and he is also improving

I’m very happy to see Esteghlal back to good form.....the turn around from Schafer and his improvement of the squad should not be over looked! That was one of the best teams in Asia they dominated today. I know it’s very early to say but so far Esteghlal seems to be the best Iranian team in the ACL. I hope the Esteghlal management values him and what he’s done and doesn’t throw him to the side like some Iranian clubs sometimes do with foreign coaches/players!

I didn't watch SS-Al Hilal game, but regardless of who was missing from AH side, or how the game went, this is a huge win for SS and I am very happy that they beat the Saudi team.

SS has very good talent on defensive side and if the new forward turns out to be a good striker, SS may have better chance than other Iranian teams to go far in Asia. having said that, I don't see SS or any other Iranian club going past a full squad al Hilal in the playoffs, unless something really unexpected happens (i.e lots of injuries, an early red card etc.)

SS plays a better and more aggressive football compared to last season but we should not ignore the fact that this Al Hilal was missing 4 players whom 3 were great players. Two are in LaLiga now then the third one was the ACL top scorers last season. SS was also lucky in the past two matches from 3 goals who they have scored 2 are own goal by their opponents. How many times do you think you get this kind of goals. I am sure the luck will run out very soon and SS shows their real position as well. Overall I don't think any Iranian team reaches semifinal this year. We should focus more on our NT preparation. Maybe we can have a better hope in WC if we have better national camps.

Luck is part of life. I am HAPPY for Esteghlal and Iranian fans.

Many times lucks do NOT happen by accident. Esteghlal players made their own luck to come true. They must fight, they must play with great motivation and pride. Luck or no luck, the efforts count.

Typical Saudi club owners' reaction. Some people can not digest defeat. In other end of spectrum we have some incompetent managers who are proud and useless in IFF specially after 3 years they can not resolve our right to host Saudi teams and they don't step down either.
