One aspect that TM has mastered greatly is the control and management of the match and it’s tempo. The possession when they have the ball and pressing when they don’t or when they lose the ball getting back the possession and doing it consistently over the 95 minutes is not only beautiful to watch, it is unique in our footballing history.

The difference with our current style compared with the past is that we gave the ball and the field to the opposition and press from the midfield, then rely on counter - not at this tournament.

The NK coach pointed out to TM ability to slow the game down and keep the ball after they score. In essence killing the opposition’s desparation to equalize.

Iraq will hardly be given a sniff of the ball, let alone the ball itself!

I think Hajsafi and Cheshmi could work too, that way we would have one who's good at ball distributing and one more physical defensive player.
