I think they are a good side. They can cause problem. But the bigger problem is facing China or south Korea next round.

We SHOULD Boycott this Asian cup (or at least send our U17). Why?

- AFC choose UAE over Iran for hosting the competition. UAE in an anti-Iran country, and Iran despite women/alcool ban has decent stadiums. Seriously who is going to travel specially to watch Asian Cup in any asian country anyway?!
- Are you really interested to see a competition with VietNam, Turkmenistan, India, etc..? A competition that is useless now there is no Confed Cup.
- These AFC fools copy the ugly Euro 2016 with 24 teams. National team competitions is heading towards a very bad direction.
- Iran can win this cup with a 5/0 score in every match, we won't have more Euro legionnaires. Nobody care about this mickey mouse cup. It is even the opposite, every euro team will see that iranian players won't be available in the middle of their season.
- the only AFC competition that is worth, is WCQ.

Well, it's worth climbing the FIFA rankings table, and next to WC and WCQ, the AFC Cup has the most chance of increasing our ranking points. Why is it important to increase our ranking: improve our chance for friendlies with better teams and increase our chance to be in a better pot before WC draws. Overall, still useful for our boys to compete in, and in the semifinals/finals, facing the likes of Japan/SK/Australia will be useful experience.

I would send a mix of A and B team players, playing mostly the B team until the competition gets rough, as well as calling up as many young players as possible.

Yeah its a junk competition but do u really wanna go two asian cups in a row without winning or at least getting to the finals???

We can't have this send our U17 or U20 mentality... We have to send our best along with newcomers and B team hopefuls like Shekari, Delfi, Gholizadeh, Torabi, etc.

Iran is top 1 in Asia while Australia, Saudi are way way below, and guess who have better friendlies.

We had a better ranking that any Asian cup and look to which WC group we end finally.

Makes me laugh at folks scuffing at this competition when the last time we won it, 90% of this forum wasn't even born. You'd think Iran NT has been racking up trophies and glory like Barca/Real to give it a pass.

It reminds me of Tottenham fans scuffing at Europa League last year, going out to Gent, only so they can finish 2nd in the league and semis in FA Cup, for a club that barely wins anything. You see how a giant team like Atletico has been treating the competition this year.

No body remember losers, teams that "just" qualified for the WC only to do jackshit in it....but people will remember Asian Cup winners and winning a game at the WC.

Hate this losers, victim mentality, always excusing our failures in this competition on others, refs, external environment (not to see the refs arne't highly incompetent)...but for fuck's sake. it's finally time to bring the cup home after 40 odd years. We won't have a better chance in a long time, with all Asian teams in such dissary and decline.
