A recent interview with Alireza by Fotbollskanalen:
"Sundsvall goalkeeper plays in our World Cup position: "Everybody Dreams About It"
Alireza Haghighi was the prime minister in Iran in 2014 in the World Cup.
In this spring he plays for Sundsvall and chases a World Championship site to Russia.
"Every player is dreaming about playing in the World Cup," he told the Football Channel.
Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi, 29, was in 2014 the prime minister for Iran when the national team qualified for the World Cup in Brazil. He played in all the group games in the championship, where the team crossed Nigeria and lost to Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which meant that the team had to leave the championship directly.
Three years later, the goalkeeper wrote last summer for the all-Sweden newcomer AFC Eskilstuna for games in Sweden. On the other hand, he was initially injured and did not start debut against Sirius in July until he finished the season as a regular goalkeeper.
"Last season's game in AFC Eskilstuna was a success for me personally, although the team unfortunately went out of all Swedish. I missed the first half of the season because of injury, but when I got to play I think it went well. I joined the best eleven of all Sweden and became the match's lyric couple a couple of times. In addition, I ended up in the scoreboard following an assist in our win against Malmö FF, says Haghighi.
"Before I joined Eskilstuna I did not know much about allsvenskan, but I have to say that the league is better than I thought. There are many great teams and players here that can take off in Europe. There are many good teams fighting for gold, including Malmö, AIK and Djurgården, he continues.
But it was also a different year for the goalkeeper. He did not really know all Swedish when he came to Sweden and was not used to playing on artificial turf.
"In Iran, you do not really know all Sweden, even though the league has received more attention lately thanks to me and Saman Ghoddos in Östersund. It is a good and even league with many good teams. Every team can really beat everyone, we did not show that, as a jumbo company, we played out another Malmö FF. The differences are small between the clubs, which means you can not afford to underestimate any opponent at all, "says Haghighi.
"Although many teams are playing artificial turf today, it's really good quality on them. It is not possible to compare with artificial turf in Iran. Otherwise, I think the best green in all Swedish faans in Uppsala. It was top class. It was therefore a little ironic that our match against Sirius was shot last week because the plan was not playful, he continues, aiming at Sundsvall's match against Sirius in all Sweden this year.
Would you recommend Sweden to other Iranians?
- One hundred percent! I think, however, that the weather and the game schedule help you to get out of here to come here. However, a professional football player should not be affected by the weather, he says.
What are you doing with the game schedule?
- Allsvenskan is not in sync with the rest of Europe. Everywhere you have a fall / spring season, but in Sweden you are playing in spring / autumn. This will affect the transfer window and lots of other things. I think that allsvenskan could attract more sponsors and better players if they were adapted to the rest of Europe. I have played in Russia and there is also very cold, you only have a longer winter break, but otherwise it's like the rest of the continent, "says Haghighi.
The goalkeeper left after AFC Eskilstuna last season with a view to returning to Europe, where he previously represented three different Portuguese clubs and Russian Rubin Kazan, but chose to return to Sweden and this time to Sundsvall.
"After the last match with AFC, I felt ready for a new challenge, so it was not really relevant to allsvenskan. I had several good offers from Swedish clubs, but thanked no. I also received offers from the top 5 leagues in Europe, but only as a goalkeeper and it did not attract at all, especially now that it's World Cup this year and all players need to show up. But it did not get right as I had thought, since rarely goalkeepers move on in the middle of a season. It is, as I said, one of the problems with allsvenskan, since I think the game schedule is completely wrong, he says.
But the lot ended up at Gif Sundsvall anyway?
"Since the transfer window in Scandinavia was still open, I felt that returning to Sweden and all Sweden would be the best for me. I know the country and the league so it became a simple decision. It is a club that is still established in allsvenskan, unlike my last club that made its first season there. Experience and routine still play a role, he says.
Why do you only have contracts in three months?
"I want to leave all Sweden after the World Cup and to start from the beginning in Europe it has to be done before the season starts," he says.
How do you see that many people denied that Sundsvall is going to leave Alllsvenskan?
"Of course, they are entitled to their opinions, but they are not the ones on the training every day. We know what we can and Gif Sundsvall is good enough to play in all Swedish. We need to continue to play together and develop, but all Sweden is a smooth league, where there are no simple matches, he says.
Haghighi had major injury problems after the World Championship in 2014, thus losing his place as prime guard in the national team, while in recent times he has switched between being taken to the national team's collections. Now he wants to get fit and get playing time in all Sweden to take a place in Iran's World Cup squad to Russia.
- All players dream of playing in the World Cup for their national team, so I too. I feel proud to have played for Iran in the 2014 World Cup. We met three good teams in Nigeria, Argentina and Bosnia. Nobody believed in us, everyone thought we would drop at least three goals per game and that we would be lucky if Iran just dropped five goals against Argentina. But we played 0-0 against Nigeria and were really good at Argentina, it was only a late goal in 92 minutes from Messi, which meant we did not score there too, "he said.
This year, the national team is again a tough group with Morocco, Portugal and Spain, where Iran starts the group game on June 15 against Morocco at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.
- Here too, people have written of Iran already before the World Cup began. Iran's group is difficult, but there are no bad teams in the World Cup. We have, with our coach Carlos Queiroz, shown that we are the best in Asia. Spain is perhaps the best player in the world, Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo and Morocco has many good players, but Iran will struggle to move on to the next round and make the people happy, says the goalkeeper.
But first, there is awaiting game in all Sweden this spring, where he will be next to Fridays against Malmö at his home in Sundsvall. It is a team that he has good experience from meeting when he last joined and defeated the team with 3-1 at Tunavallen.
"Sundsvall has an interesting mix of young players and some veterans. It will be fun to stand against Sweden's best team. The football is erratic and everything can happen. Just see what Roma and Liverpool have achieved in the Champions League. Allsvenskan is an even league, there are no simple matches for any team, he says"

I think it may come down to Haghighi vs Hosseini for the 3rd spot. Due to Haghighi’s European and Team Melli experience he has over Hossein Hosseini. He already knows how Carlos works. Carlos may feel that Hosseini would need more time to get fully acclimated with th team and pick Haghighi instead.
1) Beiranvand
2) Mazaheri

3- Abedzadeh
Beiranvand, as much as I don't like him, has played more than 60 in the past two years alone. Same with Mazaheri.
Abedzadeh has played less, but he's been training in a top league and has had good performances this season.
No reason to take Haghighi, he brought it on himself.Ma Bishomarim
