Love them or hate them, these players are fantastic role models for the younger generation who is increasingly showing signs of professionalism and ambition. These players have shown great discipline in maintaining their physical attributes to stay in the game for so long, maintained a healthy lifestyle, away from all the pseudo-attractions that often derail great careers of vulnerable youth, and showed that commitment to the game that demanded great sacrifice to reach this level at such advanced (football-wise) ages.
Players like Enayati, Daei, Rajabzadeh, are prime examples. And now, Shojaei, who didnt give up and worked extremely hard to put himself through routines that many fall by the wayside, to finally get the reward of getting the call to TM for a possible THIRD WC appearance.
What they have achieved is highlighted further when in our football history, we have had so many extremely talented and skillful youngsters who lost their way, got sidetracked by side issues, got tangled with drug use, ... who eventually were a big loss to IRANIAN football!
names like Khaziravi, Nikbakht, Kavianpour, Kazemian,
all, highly talented player who could have had years and years more in service of TM, had they had the same mentality as our role models.
I'm heartened by the new crop of youngsters who seem to be more professional and ambitious in recent years,, however. They seem to have their heads screwed on right. ready to work hard an sacrifice, to reach loftier goals.
p.s.: Interesting that majority of these went through that wasting-away period while playing at PP/SS , and NOT in their previous clubs!
