I don't think it's that black and white. People love yo measure strengths of leagues based on continental competitions but it is not the end all be all of a fair argument.

The fact is that both have their fair share of respectable history in Europe, the eredivise having a slight edge with more trophies.

As already mentioned I think it's very fair to say that for our younger players Netherlands should be the destination of choice bc of their success in developing talents. But for middle age players, a tough league like Russia with tons of big name players and good competition could be more beneficial.

I will say I imagine that saeid ezi would be 3-4x the footballer he is today had he not gone to Russia. He's an example of why youngsters should avoid that league at all costs
