Hey guys, I was asked to do the world cup preview thread for Iran on the soccer subreddit.
I've just whipped it up quickly and I thought I'd run it by you guys to see if there are some glaring errors or mistakes I made, or if there is something I missed. Note, this isn't the full preview, just the 23 man squad and the starting 11. You can find the full preview when it gets posted on the subreddit very soon.

Thanks guys. This is not necessarily the lineups or selections that I want, but they are what I believe Quieroz will pick. I will consider the varying opinions you guys might have (such as Rezaeian over Ghafoori), but i'm mainly interested in glaring errors i've made, such as an injury that I am not aware of or a clear indication that one or more of those players will not be there.

I agree with that list. Maybe hosseini for abedzadeh, and like you said maybe torabi or gholizadeh for Amiri ( But I really doubt that). I think Karimi will get called up instead of ebrahimi, and like you said one forward will probably be dropped for another defensive mid, so maybe ebrahimi will get in after all, unless Rafiei or Abdollahzadeh really impresses.

The wild card for me is Rafiei. He has the technical quality to be very valuable in midfield, but it depends on how physically ready and tenacious he is there on the defensive end. Im sure he will show his composure offensively.

I dont think majid hosseini or khanzadeh will make it. With Montazeri, PAG, Jalal, Cheshmi that is already 4 center backs, and ezatolahi could play there in case of a major emergency.

Idk, i'm not too worried about our RB issue as much as I am about our CDM/CM issue.

Personally, I think he's rewarding Steven's amazing season last year and his continued form this year. With an in form Rezaeian, Ghafouri, Moharrami, and Beitashour, we look pretty good for the RB position!

I actually believe that Beitashour was always in Querioz's matrix... the reason he wasn't called up is because he prefers Rezaeian and Ghafouri. But Queiroz has called up 3 players for both full back positions

Beita just doesnt have any chemistry with TM in the last 4 years, makes no sense for him to come in now at the most crucial stage, unless he insanely good in friendlies.

Noorafkan, like Hajsafi, can play both leftback and central midfield. Carlos likes multi-faceted players i.e. Taremi who can play both on wings and striker.
