Originally posted by Moroccan Expert View PostOn paper, talent wise Morocco and Algeria seem similar maybe with a slight advantage in attack for Algeria and a slight advantage for Morocco in defense.
But in reality, we performed better than Algeria for the last 2 years. They went out of the last african cup in the group stage while we went to the 1/4 finals and we qualified in a tough group for the world cup while they didn't.
This is due to the fact that since Renard took office, he built a team based on hard work and commitment and excluded some touble makers like Taraabt while Algeria consistently changed coaches since 2014 and has no clear project, they just assemble fancy players like Mahrez, Brahimi and each one seem to play by himself.

French media appear to be the most stupid and dumb-ass when it comes to report Iran matches. And this comes from l'equipe!

ghafouri--hosseini-PAG--------Mohamadi
----------hajsafi---????--------------------
jahanbakhsh------------------------taremi

----------------azmoun----------------------
this should be our starting line-up vs morroco..
idk what Cq fetish is with Amiri, but he should not be in TM
Ashkan should either start and be subbed out for ghodos in early second half, or he should be benched and be subbed on later on in the gameBookmark the PFDC Calendar for TM & WCQ games

My take on the game:
* Tunesia felt so much stronger than Algeria. (Too bad we didn't play with all our best players against Tunisia).
* Omid Ebrahimi plays very amateurish! Why is he in TM? (The same goes to Karimi). Why wasn't Abdollahzadeh brought a long?!
* The value of Hosseini increases for each game he doesn't play! Our best defender ever!
* Better game from Beiranvand but we can not afford his silly mistakes in the WC! I hope Hosseini and Pouraliganji will be there to cover them.
* Every coach seems to stick with a player no one wants around TM. In Branko's time, it was Daei. In CQ time, it is Amiri. What he sees in this dude, is beyond me! Maybe he lets him be there for charity reasons.
* Where are the people who said Haji Safi is not good?! He was easily one of our best today!
* Taremi has to start in the WC! What happened to him BTW?
* Thank god Shojaei got back so we could have a clear conscience. Now that everything has settled, time for him to go home and watch the WC from his sofa.

Dude Amiri is a wing-forward and in our system he is the backup for Taremi. I don't particularly like him in general but he stretches the play and opens a lot of gaps for our attacking players to exploit so he has a role in CQ's tactics.
I'll repeat my post from the final 23 thread but I think a lot of fans are going to end up being surprised or disappointed by CQ's final 23 so it is better to know what is happening now:
----
The partnership of Azmoun as forward and Taremi in a support role has worked, CQ likes it, and he's likely to stick with it for the WC.
Based on his past record for Iran and South Africa, he is likely to take 3 or 4 forwards to the world cup.
One, possibly two, out of Gucci, Ansarifard and Kaveh won't make it there. And that's fair enough, you have to pick the players for the system
Based on CQ's reactions to that Gucci performance a year ago, I have a feeling Gucci will definitely not be going, and possibly Kaveh too.
I'll bet he takes Azmoun as main forward with Ansarifard as back-up, and then Taremi as support role/wing forward with Amiri as back-up for that. Dependent on friendlies, he may take Kaveh Rezaei and Torabi too as a potential "third option" for each role but I doubt it based on CQ's previous decisions. I think what he is doing makes sense.

Again, you can't base someone personal opinion as a fact. However after seeing today's game and knowing that Azmoun and Taremi will start; I feel very confident that our first half team will have a clear advantage over Morroco. Now, the only challenge is Ezatollahi. If he was not banned I would definitely predict a win for Iran but it seems at least for now we should not be too much in the clouds dreaming. I will say in few weeks. It all depends if CQ finds that secret combination to cover for Ezatollahi. God I never thought it'll be this difficult but for now I think even though we have improved as a team but we definitely lack in that position.sigpicSUPPORT TEAM MELLIIRAN- IRAN - ONLY IRAN

As much as I agree that Amiri probably not the best player in an attacking TM lineup I think he has utility value which we are undervaluaing.
He is very very fit and has speed which will be useful if we are playing a more defensive game which will need high pressing and running a lot.
It all depends on the game plan. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts against spain.
