I think he should be in the squad, even as a sub.

if he is fully fit, he can be a good defensive mid, however i respect what ever CQ decide

i suppose much depends on his current form and fitness..?
it can't be all that bad if he is still playing club football..?
TBH, i dont understand how sudden he went from Captain to not even getting a call up..??
it wasnt like he was dreadful in his last few caps....!!? from what i recall, he seemed far from it..!
wonder if some off the field shitt went down between him and carlos ??
if nothing else, the man fully deserves a proper TM sent off game from IFF for his many years of selfless service to the shirt..!

both Karim and to a lesser degree Omid are too much of a maaast defensively and overall simply not good enough ...!!

That’s true, he was good in his last few games.

But I think there was a large time period between his last game and the following ones.

Maybe that had something to do with it ?

Age aint nothing but a number but if our chances are just slim to make it out of the group then we might as well use this world cup as experience for our youngsters.

All deserving Iranian players need World Cup experience. Let us do not repeat Ali Daie's mistake.

Team-e Melli does not belong to a few players. Ultimately, the head coach is responsible.

If Iran is not going to make it out of the group stage, let ALL players experience playing against the best teams.

World Cup is great place for Teams to make money and play against the best teams for free.

I highly doubt CQ will include anybody in the WC roster that hasn't been called up in this camp.

                          ?? who knows

im guessing when he showed a bit of lack of ambition by signing with Gutteri and lower profile PGL teams,(which is understandable considering he was pretty much in the twilight of his club career..!) and CQ decided to ignore him and instead work on a younger DM replacement for him ...!?

i think he may still be in the pool of 35-36? potential wc call-up list of cq..? although i dont think carlos is going to call him up unless situation becomes more desperate than it is currently at DM position, if any call up for him, it would be shortly before wc..!!
Cheshmi shows good bit of potential for a DM position...!! perhaps we should try the guy there in the next game to see how he fairs..? but then again im not so sure if our CB position is in more dire of a depths than DM..??

                            This is easy answer, NO!

I love Ando, but he has been out of TM for about 2 years now. Many new players have been brought up and Ando's game has declined as well. Spain, Morocco, and Portugal all present speedy players and I reckon that he cannot keep up with those players as good as Saeid, Karimi, Ebrahimi, or Hajsafi would. Ebrahimi and Hajsafi need to start Morocco together, then Saeed replaces Ebrahimi

I would play him ahead of anyone other than Ezatollahi. He has a good footballing brain, strong shot and high stamina.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

I love Ando but I genuinely think the game has moved on, and Iran's game specifically has moved on. He was never a flat-out defensive midfielder either, he was a box-to-box midfielder and his playing style just doesn't fit into the compact unit that CQ has honed over the last 2 years.

Having said that he could have a great role as a mentor figure or versatile supersub.
