Should Andranik Teymourian be called up again as an answer to our DM problem?

Ali Karimi has played well in almost all of his TM games and just because he had a bad game against Tunisia doesn't mean that we have a DM problem. He will play as DM against Morocco alongside Hajsafi who had a great game as CM today.

Sure, but to be honest the real reason why he was called up to TM was because he was an overseas player. Now that he is not playing abroad its supposed to be fair game for all DM's plying their trade in Iran, but that is not really happening. Sepahan hasn't really been performing in the league this year, and there is a very slim chance that they could get relegated. Siah Jamegan is definitely one of the teams that will be gone, but the last team for relegation is pending with 4 games to go (a total of 12 pts). An underperforming team like Sepahan with a player like Karimi, does not look like an ideal role for a starter against Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

We need witty and physical DM's against these teams. Ando maybe witty, but he has no physical shape that is worth TM at the moment or the right team to shape him.

Other options we can look at (players who were not part of the recent list):

1- Ahmad Abdollahzadeh (Foolad) - Fast, strong, and witty. Almost had the opportunity to become the next player abroad. Plays regularly and had experiences as part of U23/20 TM as a regular.

2- Kamal Kamyabinia (Persepolis) - Plays in the best team in the league. Physically and mentally strong with experiences in youth TM & ACL.

3- Omid Nourafkan (Esteghlal) - Young talented player with some experience, and can also be considered a utility player. Experienced in ACL. Also still elligble for U23 TM.

4- Mehdi Kiani (Traktor Sazi) - Captains a dynamic sarbazi team that changes almost every season with new challenges of its own. Very experienced and adaptable to change, and physically strong against opponents. Has some international experiences while playing in ACL.

5- Iman Mobali (Foolad) - Experienced player for both TM and PGL. Better shape than Ando, great crosses, and playing regulary for Foolad. Had a couple stints abroad in Persian Gulf states, including a good performance against Lyon while playing abroad.

I actually liked Mehdi Kiani from the tractor matches I saw. Doubt we will ever see him in TM but certainly looked better than some...

If he is fit and in form, then yes. Because a fit and in form Ando is dangerous. The many years of experience he has can also for sure help our young CDMs like Saeid and Omid.

Be omide Khoda. He needs to work very hard to get back into Team Melli form if he wants to make the squad. I doubt the door is closed on Ando but at his age it’s not easy to make a come back and in 2 months. I wish him the best.

this guy isnt the type to just Bs self promote ..!
he has had big dips in fitness and form before even in his prime and every damn time he has done a complete 180 trun-around from it...!
if CQ throws as much as a slightest hint that he is still in his WC picture, i have little doubt he has the ability to whip himself into excellent form by kick off in Russia..!! and i think his immense international experience will more than make up for his natural decline due to aging..!!

in all honesty, our DM position looks awful bleak currently, especially in absence of Ezzai vs the do or die fixture of Morocco(and that is perhaps The Most Important position in CQ overall defensive style of football..?)

well I think Hajsafi has shown he can be ok there. Yes, hes no Javad or Ando, but a duo of Hajsafi and Saeid isnt bad. Sometimes I wish Djeparov could play for TM lol

Definitely, and of course providing his fitness is on par with what is required to be in World Cup. In our first game especially against Morocco Ezatollahi's absence will be worrisome for us. Given the insufficiency of Karimi, Ebrahimi and everybody else we have tried in that position during our friendlies, we certainly need someone with experience and fighting spirit to control midfield defensive duties.
