All things considered though, even if I disagree with you strongly on this point, I'll always have time for my respectable colleague Dr Doom. When everyone on this site was shilling Branko you were the only one who could see through the emperor's new clothes and I always think criticism is healthy, even if our stances on CQ are quite different.
Bro, actually I am not so averse to CQ as much as 3 years back before WC14.
I think he's done a great job after that WC and he has rejuvenated the squad (one of the matters I took issue with him), he also has made the team more professional. For that I am extremely grateful to him.

yes, he sometimes does his "snake-oil salesman" routine (thankfully not as frequently as back in those years) also his other ... ummm ... peculiar behavior (after every win, he suddenly gets on offensive and attacks his critics. while after bad games, he stays silent!! hahahahaha).

But in balance he's done a top notch job at TM and I am fully behind him.

having said that, I still maintain I will not gush over him or praise him to heavens as if he's God-send or anything.... like some fans. If I see something wrong, I will say it.
That's what you all who've known me for years, have come to expect from me. politically correct/expedient talk be damned.
And if it does unite the forum, then all the better

On taromi, I must confess him being a Khamenei arse-kisser and a Basiji has a LOT to do with my dislike of him.

Never liked such ppl. especially those who behave this way for a murderous, backward regime. Football be damned. Iran matters above all else.

You are right about that with Taremi and I for one wished him nowhere near TM after his brace of social media F-ups at the time, it was only a few months ago of course...

I guess I've given him a single pass in retrospect because of the fact that he is young and stupid... and the fact is that almost all of our current generation of football players are very very unintelligent people. These guys are thick as bricks. I don't care at all because their job isn't to quote Hafez, it's to kick a ball.

Please explain how that sort of mindset is any different from that of the "Murderous, backward regime" you just described? You too are dictating your perception of what appropriate standard behavior displayed by an athlete oughta be and dragging that biased stance into whether he deserves a spot in the team or not... POLITICS DOES NOT BELONG IN SPORTS PERIOD. I don't care what side you are on and I'm actually on your side in this case.

Maybe one day we can actually enjoy freedom in our own country and live amongst each other in peace when we can finally respect each other's differences.

The point is, CQ will most likely take them all to the WC. He wants to take the maximum possible number of players playing in Europe to Russia even if that means, that he has to use them out of their normal position like what he did with Ansarifard and Shojaei in the Algeria match.

bcoz there's a thing called "morality" that shd come above all else. It's not about which club or what hair style or what car or .... .It's not even about what political party or affiliations or ... .
It's about standing on the RIGHT SIDE, the IRANIAN PEOPLE's side.

Once you show support for such immoral systems, you automatically lose respect.

yes, in a normal country and circumstances, politics shd not interfere with sports. But in TODAY's Iran, EVERYTHING is connected to politics and it SHOULD BE too, imo.
... Until the day we get a regular system and Iran, at least.

Gucci : getting old, average season in Holland where 98% of his goals are "aleki" ones (contrary to Sardar who scored champions league alike goals). His size doesn't help him when he is alone in front.

Ansarifard : I don't rate Greece league very high. He need to play in a team that is superior to his opponents. If not, he lose his cool and became aggressive (push his opponents like against tunisia or bosnia). Too bad, he could play against barcelona & Juventus this year.

Kaveh : I rate Belgium league higher than Eredivie and greek league. However I am still waiting goals and high level performance from him with TM.

                I would take Kaveh.

People who saw Taremi vs. both Russia and Algeria still don't want him on the team?

Some people are just stuck in their ways.

What did he exactly do against Algeria?

His crosses were off, he was his usual slow self, and fell over whenever someone came within a 5 meter radius of him. The goal scored was basically all Hajsafi. He got the ball in the penalty box with only the Goalie in front of him. Basically anyone the team with the exception of Karim could've scored in that situation.

Look at us, we were with ONE good Striker in 2014 which is a headache! Now we have multiple good strikers which is another headache !!!!

Out of three I like Kaveh more but for some reason he is not as good as his club in NT. He somewhat reminds me of JB days in NEC. Initially I said I would take Karim but this dude has serious confidence problem specially if he is not playing in his usual CF position. Gucci is like a Chaghooye Kond. He can not cut it anymore. We should forget both Gucci and Karim. If Kaveh shows us something special in remaining friendlies I think he has a better chance otherwise we have to either take Alipour or someone better.

                              Ansarifard obviously.

Very good point. I wouldn't be surprised if CQ takes them all either. At the end of the day, who would CQ take, Torabi or Karim/Kaveh? The answer is clear.
