May Friendlies: Dates confirmed?

Does anyone know if the friendly against Uzbekistan has been confirmed as being Friday 18th May, and if so a kick off time?

Visiting Iran in May and would love a trip to the Azadi, before seeing TM in St Petersburg.

Strangely Iran did not play Pakistan since 1993! They used to play Pakistan regularly from the 1950s all the way until then. The same with Turkey until 1969.

Turkey is a good friendly game and Lithuania is not bad.. I am sad that we not play even one country from West- Europe like The Netherlands or Germany or Engeland in Russia before Morocco.

Uzbekistan game will not help us at all..

I think its twofold.

First, you have to be good enough so the elite teams want to play you to benefit their long-term WC ambitions. Think about it, Germany or France won't learn much by playing us, and there are only a limited amount of FIFA friendly days, so they must pick wisely. Similar to how many members on this board scoff at TM's preparation match vs Uzbek...

Second, if you're not good enough, you need to fork over the cash to entice the elite teams (e.g., Saudi). IFF and IR surely have the cash, they just don't think it's worth the expenditure.

Thus, we're not good enough, and we don't want to pay the cash, that's why we're left with non-ideal friendlies.

It is political. We have terrible diplomacy.

See the teams that face Saudi Barbaria. You know how many Spanish La Liga teams are taking Saudi players? Saudi has a terrible human rights record, even worse than IR. But it's all about diplomacy.

IR has zero PR skills.
