Again some of you don’t seem to understand that technique and fitness are two different things. The Arabs of Al Rayyan are very fit and in shape due to their professional coaches, trainers and high quality facilities they have at their disposal. The Qataris also have at least 3-4 decent foreigners who could hold their own in Europe.

My point is, yes Asian football is Asian football and nobody is comparing Asia with Europe. But let’s not forget that these teams aren’t completely crap either. Esteghlal doesn’t have everything at their disposal but their head coach and his staff brought this team back to life and players like Cheshmi have gotten fit and more than ready for Asian standards.

Also don’t act like we have 5-10 CBs and CMs in Europe. Cheshmi as chosen by Carlos Queiroz and there must be a reason he keeps getting the call.
Also let us not forget that we play in Asia and are not Brazil or Argentina who just happen to be stuck in Asia geographically. Our football is developing and the Asian level is also our level, so the whole Asian Champions League is tokhmi argument doesn't sit well with me. We should select our best and fittest players for the world cup and Cheshmi has the potential to be in our final list. He is versatile but i reckon he's much better as a defensive midfielder, he is for sure better than Ali Karimi. You could make the argument that he is not good enough for us as a central defender, but as a defensive midfielder only Ezatolahi and Hajsafi are better, and maybe Ebrahimi and Abdollahzadeh, but we need a tall and physically strong midfielder alongside Hajsafi (as a substitute for Ezatolahi), and only Ali Karimi and Cheshmi are qualified at this moment, so let's do the math

Did you guys hear what Djeparov had to say after this match?

He has so much love for Esteghlal and the fans. Such a class act and a gentleman. I just listened to the post-match press conference. You can just tell Djeparov is very happy to be at Esteghlal.

I’m no Esteghlal fan, but as I’ve said before I don’t see red or blue in Asia. This is for Iranian football.

Hearing a foreign player speak with such love and dedicate this victory to all Iranians and wishing us “Norouz mobarak” was very nice. Djeparov has this calm to him that’s very positive. This guy is a class act and I’m glad he is happy at Esteghlal.

He is overrated. Some people actually believe he's one of the best players in Asia. If the referees ain't helping him out, he doesn't make much of a difference.

p.s. he missed a penalty today he flopped for two penalties and won them, amazing.

I really hope Al Rayyan beats them in the last game. These guys won 5 penalties in two games (3 in one half) and none of them were legitimate.

Tabrizi is really a hool player. Never had the makings of anything besides a PGL player.

Well said brother - I remember when there were ppl bashing this signing. I just LOLed at them and even more so now that he proved me right. The quality, leadership and character he brings to this team is fantastic.

Zob are such a substandard team, even at this level. How Ghaleneoi coaches at this level is a mystery.

Morteza Tabrizi misses an absolute one-on-one sitter.

                            Of course.
