It's a bit disheartening that transfer rumors for our European-based players have run a bit dry. Before the world cup, everyone was after Alireza, Azmoun, and Ghoddos. Now, I check twitter, and it's complete silence. We have been out of the World Cup over a week now, and this is not a good sign.
We are unfortunately not top priority for the top-4 league teams. They'd rather sign a European-born player with half of Jahanbakhsh's statistics this year.
I know some here hate this line of reasoning, and say "you can't blame everything on politics!", but I am starting to really believe that politics is playing some role in hampering our footballers' progress. Based on CQ's "These are just boys, let them play" comments, I'm beginning to feel like Greece/Kosovo/every other game cancellation is not because of IFF, but rather politically motivated.
Countries that have certain allies cannot play Iran, or choose to preemptively avoid us in order to stay in good favor with the international powers. I know it's a conspiracy theory, but with our players plying their trade in Russia, Turkey, Eastern Europe, etc. I see a correlation between the teams that will play friendlies with us, and our players' clubs.
I hope I am just over-analyzing, but it's really shameful that our guys get very little respect compared to European and South American players with half of Jahanbakhsh, Ghoddos, or Azmoun's talent or potential.
