Bro its fine, this guy is 32 years old and has played in the Iraqi league, not to mention hasn't done jack shit in the PGPL in almost 10 years. He's probably getting paid a decent amount of money so I say fuck it, take the offer.

As for Ali Ghorbani, I 100% think he should take the Greek offer... The PGPL is a solid league, but it is not as good as the Greek league, not to mention playing in Europe is a stepping stone for other good leagues. Plus, its not like Ghorbani is heavily needed at Esteghlal anyways... Esteghlal is stacked up top with a great striker in Tabrizi, as well as recent signing Alhaji Gero. And lets not forget Allahyar Sayyad!!

I don't have any issue that our boys join leagues like Russia, Turkey, Belgium, Croatia, Holland, if very early in career and at very young age such as JB and use it as bridge to get transfer to a top league team, but getting stuck there like Azmoun, Saeid and the rest is just waste of time. I even consider the age of Nourfakan, Hosseini, Moharammi a bit old for such a league. Unless they dominate in a year or two. Now i don't want any of our TM players in a league such as Greece. Look how dominant an old and slow Shojaei was there . With all due respect the guy is done.
      Bro, lets think logically here:

Why in the hell would Schafer admit that European leagues such as the Belgian league, Russian league, or Greek league are better than the PGPL? After all, he is the ESTEGHLAL, not Team Melli coach. He benefits by having good players playing for his club. He doesn't give one shit about Team Melli!

As for Azmoun and Saeid, it is not the matter of getting "stuck" there, as it is about the stupidity of their decisions and their "agents"

Dadash, if you look on transfermarkt, Azmoun and Saeid's agents are his parents! LOL! At the end of the day, you need a competent agent to help you with transfers. Having maman va baba is only gonna stagnate their careers.

Azmoun has had countless offers from top 4 league teams... Don't hate the leagues, hate the players..

@Iran_19 you couldn’t have picked a more biased individual to reference. He mentioned in many interviews in the last 3-4 months that he is trying to keep his team together (as any manager who sees success would want to do) and that he is against his players moving abroad because he thinks they can learn more under him.

I am a big fan of Schafer as I think he’s a very solid coach and person, but what would you expect a manager to say about a league he’s coaching in? Of course he’ll want to hype it up a bit. These first 3 weeks of IPL has been ridiculously boring and low quality I’m not sure if it’s because of the weather or what but it is for certain that Iranian league is not on par with 2 leagues you can easily put in the top 10 leagues of the world (Belgian being right on the border of that mark).

Schafer is a good coach and I like him, he's also a good motivator so he talks quite a lot and has made some questionable remarks. Don't read too much into it.

The Greek league is fucking poor, barely an upgrade from the PGPL. Not to mention that the clubs from Athene (AEK, Olympiacos) are very corrupt and full of parti bazi just like our own PP & SS. I hope Karim and Ehsan can get a better move soon.

I remember when Schaeffer said Ebrahimi was the best Iranian player before the WC and everyone here mocked him.

Then the WC happened and the rest is history

No it's not, but realistically a team like Panionios is going to make an offer for Alipour and that's barely a step up from PP.

and we saw how quickly ansarifard and hajsafi went to olympiakos from there. What I am trying to say is players coming from PGPL usually wont have great offers no matter what, they need to take what comes their way, especially if they are younger players.

I agree that the Greek league isn't some sort of god tier league compared to the PGPL, but even if it is a slightly better league or team, he should take it.

At the end of the day, us Iranians are gonna be overlooked by European clubs anyways. If Ali Ghorbani is getting offers from AEL Larissa, it doesn't mean theres a better offer from AZ Alkmaar waiting for him.

Sadly us Iranians will always be underrated in the transfermarket...

Well said. I agree with Kiarash that the Greek league is corrupt and a mediocre league at best, but if its the best league that guys like Alipour are getting offers from, they have to take it.

That's because people don't watch the league and base their opinions on 20-30 mins of a TM friendly where nobody is going their hardest.

That being said, imagine if Ebrahimi left Iran at an earlier age. Let's say he went to Greek league at age 23-24. Do you think he would be a better player than he was in WC 2018? Or do you think he maxed out his potential playing for Sepahan and Esteghlal?

exactly. Im not sure people understand that there really is no alternative. Go to a crappy euro team which gives you the chance to prove yourself and move to better euro teams, or stay in Iran forever. If you are a good player you should be able to succeed with the first option, if not, you can always return to iran.

Totally agree. For your question, nobody knows what would’ve happened for sure but I definitely think if he moved to a “secondary” European league earlier in his career, he would’ve been noticed by bigger teams, regardless of the difference in quality between the PGL and say the Greek league.

The same can be said for many of our talents who chose to stay in Iran unfortunately.

Schafer for sure thinking of his own players and benefit, but i can bet with you guys that most of IPL mid table teams can challenge teams such as Charleroi, i am also ready to bet that teams such as Persepolis, Esteghlal will give hard time to Olympiacos, AEK, Liège, Dinamo Moscow, and many teams like this. Now if you want join such a league, better to join their top teams, not a team like Charleroi.
Greek league is crap, no Iranian should ever join this league, even to some top teams, unless you are at the end of career, like Masoud.
