Guys, apologies if this has already been covered but how the hell was Sri Lanka's withdrawal for the 2018 U23 Asian Championship qualifiers not recognised by 3 points for the other three teams in the group:

If you scroll down it says they decided to not consider the other teams' results against the fourth place teams in their group due to Sri Lanka dropping out.
I guess that makes more sense than giving an automatic three points to Iran...?

Lol this rule has screwed Iran many times as far as I can remember. We have ended up in a group with a team that withdraws. So annoying.

This is the same coach that intentionally lost to Myanmar in order to not face Korea. He made a miscalculation and ended up playing Korea and losing that imp[ortant game. He defended his decision afterward.
He said his forward missed several chances. If that is the case why satisfied with their performance?
For past 3 games, Vahid Namdari has scored in all 3 games as an MF player. He was not even with previous Asian games squad.
He has no defense. He inherited a disorganized mediocre defensive line and made it worse. He has rejected most experience CB in favor of Noorafkan. Noorafkan is a good MF or LB player and not a CB. This is supposed to be future of TM team and players. Noorafkan will never be a CB for his or any club let alone TM.


At best, the current team is at the same level as Oman. Jordan, Syria, but weaker than Iraq, Korea, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia...

He hasn't been a good coach for many years. Disastrous with Sepahan too.

He might have been at some point in the past.
A good coach won't plays a good winger Mehdikhani as DM and OM as DM while there are better DM players in the squad.
Taheran from Tractorsazi, Shojaei (Nasaji), Soltanimehr (Saipa) much better options as DM( even when Khodabandelu & Razaghpour are not available) than a pair of Mehdikhani & Zamehran.

At Asian game, he used to play 3 DM players in his starting lineup and still had a shaky defense. Aghasi, Rahimi, Gholami , Aghajanian, Taheri , all CB players has been dismissed in favor of Noorafka, Dorreh, and Arta , none real experience CB !.

At least its good that qualification games are in Iran and only strong opponent is Iraq. We shall see if they can beat Iraq at home. Iraq U23 squad include few U22 players with National team that will play Iran today.
