    If you ask me, if Carlos is going to leave he’s doing is a favor for implementing younger CBs. Majid Hosseini is one physical defender. Just in a friendly match he gave zero ****s vs Uzbekistan and he’s sharp. He’s young and internationally inexperienced but these players will gain a lot from going to the World Cup.
    In this case, he should have put it in the list and put an other CB in the reserve list in case of injury

    Goalkeepers
    Alireza Beyranvand => Shaky
    Rashid Mazaheri => Not really used in TM
    Amir Abedzadeh => couldn't care lesshe played in Portugal, saw nothing impressive from him
    Defenders
    Ali Gholizadeh => out of position
    Majid Hosseini => OK
    Milad Mohammadi => OK
    Mohammad Khanzadeh => Lol
    Morteza Pouraliganji => OK
    Pejman Montazeri => OK but tunisia game wasn't impressive
    Ramin Rezaeian => OK even if he had a difficult season
    Rouzbeh Cheshmi => let's say OK
    Midfielders
    Ehsan Hajsafi => OK
    Karim Ansarifard => Out of position. Only score against the like of Togo with TM. Bad in midfield
    Masoud Shojaei => nothing impressive with TM lately except some good passes here and there
    Mehdi Torabi => OK
    Omid Ebrahimi => LOL and often injuried
    Saeed Ezzatollahi => OK
    Forwards
    Alireza Jahanbakhsh => OK
    Ashkan Dejagh => 6 months clubless, 6 months injuried
    Mahdi Taremi => OK
    Reza Ghoochannejhad => LOL when you have Kaveh
    Saman Ghoddos => OK
    Sardar Azmoun => OK
    Vahid Amiri => want to insult CQ badly
    Standby: Vouria Ghafouri, Jalal Hosseini, Kaveh Rezaei => Come on, COME ON!!!!!

    CQ then speak about how Iran is 50 years behind Spain, Portugal and Bengladesh, but come with this kind of ****!!! For WC22, he is going to make a squad with some random iranians he met in Tehran street in front of a Mash Donald the day before??

      The guy has played 116 games for our national team and has been by far the most solid and consistence player of the past 11 years and you pay him back by dropping him for average players like Majid Hosseini and Khanzadeh who haven't been tested a single time against quality opponents?

      He will be grilled by the people and media for this selection.

        also Steven Beitashur - was he supposed to fly to Iran earlier to make the UZB game?
        I'm wondering the same thing.

          The WC18 has the potential to be nightmare for TM : worst draw, bad players selection, TM kit fiasco
          Well, let's try to see it from a positive point of view. The last time, our very best players were Nekounam, Teymourian and Dejagah. 2 DMs and a RM! This time around our stars are almost all our forwards. That in itself signals for a more entertaining game by TM than the last time. Even though we have to rely on major defensive tactics against Spain and Portugal. Let's hope that's the case!

            You know people have lost their heads when they start disrespecting CQ and our team's achievements in 2014. Yes, our number two RB and 36 year old CB have been surprisingly cut, it's hardly lile we're leaving behind Messi. Get a grip ffs

              Did Jalal Hosseini get cut because of injury or because he just didn’t make it? I’m still confused as to how Kaveh Rezaei and Jalal Hosseini are cut.

              If they are on standby then that means Carlos can still switch Majid Hosseini for Jalal Hosseini and Rezaei for Gholizadeh. No?

                How are we going to fed out forwards with a weak midfied, defense line and GK? We have more forwards but the number of them playing at the same time will be limited and affected by the CQ special "out of position" player selection.

                I m sorry, CQ can be all the mourinho Guardiola, he can't do something successful with players that aren't good.

                  I love the list. Again CQ blindsides all the fans and pundits and shows he gives two shits about their opinions. He is a master and if he chose khanzadeh above grandpa hosseini then regardless of what you saw in the last two friendly games he saw a player he can mold into something useful for the WC. Trust in him don't give up now, he has never been wrong. What this shows is really how limited everyone else's knowledge is about football and how truly hard it is to really understand and feel the game the way he can.

                    This list is apparently only for the Turkey game, and not final. This according to Mehdi Rostampour.

                      A good list of 23! I only missing Alireza Haghighi as keeper European experience! I expect allot from Sardar Azmoun the Messi and Alireza Jahanbakhsh topscorder with 21 goal in dutch competition.

                      I just hope Alireza Jahanbakhsh will playing a full game, because in World Cup 2014 he did not get play time so much. I hope CQ do better this time.

                        If he's on the standby list then one suspects fitness isn't an issue. Kaveh is no surprise and Gucci is still also at great risk of getting dropped too. Gholizadeh is in as backup LB primarily.

But Carlos always spoke about having to prepare the domestic based players because they will not be ready for the World Cup. Then when the camp for the domestic based players is cancelled he takes Gholizadeh over Rezaei?

                          Again, no disrespect to Gholizadeh but Rezaei is better at the moment. Wouldn’t it save time for Carlos to take Rezaei over Gholizadeh so he can focus on the rest of the domestic based players?
                          Didn't you see yesterday's game? Gholizadeh was used as LB, not forward! I think he will be the sub for Milad Mohammadi.

                          He should have rather dropped Amiri or Gucci for Rezaei.

                            This would make a lot of sense given the 24 figure.

                              I didn’t watch the full match. I must have missed it.

                                I do agree with you. I also think his player selection is very weird but I'm just trying to somehow make sense of it all. As you say some of the so called forwards have been used out of position and played in the attacking midfield instead but I think they have done well. Taremi has been good as LAM and as CAM. We have Ghoddos who can play CAM and our RAM doesn't even need mentioning. In CD, we have a great Pouraliganji who can hopefully be adjusted with one of Khanzadeh or Majid Hosseini. and in CDM, we have the good Ezatollahi and Haji Safi. Only in the Morocco game we'll have problem not having Ezatollahi there but Cheshmi has to raise his game by then.

                                We have a couple of weeks left. Our players can get adjusted and I'm sure they will train their a$$ off for that. Last but not least I have to mention, if anyone in Iran knows Spain and Portugal and how to play against them, it's CQ! He's the only person who knows how to deal with them. If he dropped a giant like Hosseini, I'm sure he's got a good reason for it. Let's wait and see what happens.
