by the way I was told by a friend that the last time there was an iran presidential election booth at some place in the west. A few so called persian guys were playing insulting loud music and taking pictures of anyone who went to vote. They had a shirokhorshid flag on their car. anyway it is over please do not use that flag anymore. You can use derafshe kaviani if that excites you. shirokhorshid and shah are over. see Mike Wallace's 60-minutes interview with shah on youtube about torture.

Chill guys, I'm pretty sure that this is not the final list. It wouldn't make sense to come up with a final list before our last few friendlies + camp. We have until the 4th of June to send in the final list and I'm sure some things will still change until then.Persian Pride running through my veins!

Originally posted by PersianLegion View PostDude your comments and comparison are wrong on so many different levels, that I don't know where to begin with. You just jump to conclusion without considering many factors. WC games are not just relying on names or coaches. It is about preparation, right player selection, fitness, professional management and many more.
Last world cup we had some seasonal veterans like Ando and Neko who both players many years in Europe. We had younger and a lot more effective hungry for fame Reza Gucci and a beast named Ashkan Dejagah who played most of his youth years for Germany youth NTs and in Bundesliga, EPL and so we had some good esteem in middle and defense. CQ dropped wiz kid Azmoun, our handyman Khalatbari, SS Zidan aka Jabari, even Iranian god of football Ali Karimi to include an injured Beikzadeh and a physically strong but low IQ player like Haghighi (not GK). We were packed by defensive player and lacked enough offensive player and we got what we came for. A 0-0 against a decent Nigeria and 0-1 loss against Messi (Argentina was not and is not the same team for about a decade), and finally we got embarrassed against Bosnia because everyone was desperately rushing to the opponent goal to get a win with a defensive line up!
Our core strength was built up around Hosseini in defense, Neko and Ando in DM line and Ashkan Dejagah as our AMF. Shojai, Reza and somewhat JB were our wild cards who didn't make that much of difference.
Take a look at us now: Without Hosseini we are left only with PAG who is injury prone and lack enough international experience to hold our D line in WC. Both Neko and Ando are gone and we have only Saeed who can partially fill the place of Ando. We have no one to fill in Neko's place in the middle. We have tried many players but no one even came close to Neko on his bad days. Our working horse Dejagah has not played any meaningful match for one year and prior to that he was playing in Qatar for 2-3 years. He is also injured and 31. Do I need to add anything else to this. We know Deja is not that untamed beast of WC 2014 for a long time. He has some steam left in him but not enough to pull it together with multiple injuries. Reza has not scored any meaningful goal for us in past 2 years except that lucky Qatari GK blunder goal.
What do we have now: Yes we have a rocket in LB as Milmo, We better have a reliable defensive right back as Ghafouri (Rezaian sucks at defensive duties), we have a very young DM as Saeed who is missing the most crucial match vs Morocco, and we have a good RW as Jahanbakhsh who has not been tested against tough defensive teams. We have Azmoun who has a lot of talent but wasting his time in Russia and social media (he has lost weight and looks pale). We also have two injured player in the middle as Shojai and Deja. If you also add Saman as wild card, I tell you we are busted. We look good on RW,FW and RB, LB but damaged all over the rest. Our opponents are also stronger compared to 2014. Spain is stronger that Argentina while our defense look worst. Portugal is obviously stronger than Bosnia with CR7 and their defensive back line. Morocco is a lot stronger than Nigeria of 2014 and their defense is strongest in Africa.
Without a solid defense line or DM line and without a proper linking CMF/AMF to our good FWs, our team is like a Machine with missing part, no matter how good your engine is, if it can not deliver the power to the wheels, it will be a useless car.
Also i strongly believe your assessment is not only wrong but unfair
Few of your mistakes are the following
Ali karimi and jabari were not left out by CQ but they quit themselves
Also reza haghighi played against argentina
Also tell me this honestly, prior to world cup 2014
How many goals did you think Argentina was going to score against us?
If you thought 0-0 or 1-0 and messi would score 92 minute then I will agree with you for the rest of my life in anything you say, you can start a religion and I ll be praying behind you in the first row
Ill will repeat ashhado anla persian legion rasoul ollah 5 times a day from today
But I know you couldnt see that result coming our way but CQ did, so I trust CQ’s judgement and not yours or 80 million other people that make football comments based on friday afternoon goal kochik they played with their pesar ammeh and pesar khaleh when they were 10 years old over a guy that lived and breathed football his entire life and manage zidane ronaldo and david beckham and was behind the discovery of portugal’s golden generation from which the likes of figo came out and became world’s youth champion
So excuse me on this one, I learn from past experiances, you my friend are repeating your mistake of 2014 just like 80 million Iranians
Frankly the reason we the Iranian people do not advance forward in life is the fact we dont look at the past to learn from
Have some trust in the guy, give him for once the bbenefit of the doubt that maybe just maybe you are wrong, maybe then things start to change for you on how you see the team
Do you think he wants to see his team lose? Or you think you have more knowledge than him in what he can not see and you can see it from your TV screen?
Tell me how many times you sat next to alex fergusen and learned a trick or two about player draft for an important tournament if you tell me once I will join your religion now!
I think since our opinions doesnt matter and will not effect the outcome lets focus all of us together focus on what effects the outcome and what matters and that is unconditional love and support for the team, lets stop the negativity and start sending the team our positive vibe and boost their morals with strong fighting spirit energy , I am sure you can do that !
Mic drop loooool
By the way my friend they are on standby, so lets just wait for the final cut before you kill the guy
Much love and respect to you for your long commentچو ایران نباشد تن من مباد

Great to see Shojaei included. a big up yours to the regime. Hope he remains on the list.
I can understand SOME of these controversial decisions .... I may not agree with all of them, but I can see how CQ worked it out in his head.
1- CB & Hosseini
I know he's thinking of the pace of the forwards we're going to meet and that puts the fear of God in any coach. So he would pick a combo of experience-youth/energy for the two CB's. Noway he'd pick two experienced CBs. No way.
That would make the toss up between Hosseini & Montazeri for experience.
Personally I'd have picked Hosseini over Montazeri. He's been a reliable ROCK in our defense for so long.
Besides, what if Montazeri gets injured or suspended? PAG is good but nowhere near enough experienced as Hosseini
Dont like this decision. I'd replace Khanzadeh with Hosseini in a jiffy. Even if Montazeri is favored to fill the experience slot.
2- RB
I really cant explain how Ghafouri is dropped in favor of Rezaeian.
The only way I can explain is for CQ to tell players to leave to Europe. If THAT is his reasoning, then that's one helluva moronic reasoning.
FORM shd always be the criteria, not where you play.
horrible decision
3- ST - Kaveh
I am simply gutted to see Kaveh out. The lad tried very hard and did magnificently for a 1st timer in europe. something almost 90% of asian strikers fail to do, as they'd need to settle in and understand the change in football in their 1st year. Kaveh hit the ground running.
But as much as I hate that basiji Taromi, I can understand why CQ picked him
as for RGN, perhaps CQ values expeience more as he has youth/energy in Azmoun, Taromi, JB, ...
so unfortunately some deserving St had to be struck off.
having said that, with Dejagah, Ebrahimi and Shojaei are all injured, and Hosseini, Kaveh, Ghafouri are on the stand-by list, we may see perhaps Hosseini brought in in any of the injured chaps dont get fit by June 4th.

??????
you either bring IRAN's flag (SHIR O KHORSHID) or go naked or hold a "dasteh beel" and wave it around. No different than bringing any of those.
derafshe kavian is NOT Iran's flag.
high time Iranians made a proper, concise stand on such matters.
not the wishy-washy, noncommittal, maybe-this-maybe-that that many of us have been doing for the past 40 years.
stand your ground.
when ppl are doing it INSIDE Iran under that repressive regime, surely you OUTSIDE in the free word can at least do that much
and dont get me started on "Torture"
even the political prisoners issue has been revealed years ago.
it is now general knowledge that the numbers were enormously exaggerated by the islamists.
at best it would be a couple of 1000s.
many of whom TOOK TO ARMS, killed civilians and wanted to do irreparable damage to the nation. (ANY other country they'd be prisoners also)
fate and severity of torture????
who were these political prisoners that were "tortured"? rafsanjani, khamenei, beheshti, taleghani, rajaei, ...
they were perfectly healthy, fine and dandy able bodies by the end of shah's rule.
so either savaak really used useless chinese torture implements that broke or were defective .... or they really didnt torutre these mofos.
And the talk of torture was cooked up to affect naive, simpletons who's believe any garbage without thinking.
compare those prisoners to today;s prisoners, where they're raped, beaten, burned, killed, ... routinely.
so my suggestion is we shd not talk about matters we have ZERO idea of.
thank you

Waking up to this list made me want to vomit.
1. Khanzadeh who?? If this guy touches the field, believe me the 8-0er jokes will be on us against Spain and Ronaldo especially when you have a shaky GK situation.
2. Hosseini, Ghafouri, Kaveh were big misses. How the hell could you leave off the rock and general of the field
3. Where is Omid Noorafkan??? This guy deserves to be in the list instead of Ebrahimi.
4. Gucci, Amiri, Abedzadeh, Khanzadeh have NO business being on this squad
Again, I hope this isn’t the final list or we will get humiliated in the WC.
