Honestly we didn't play that bad.... We had a couple of big defensive mistakes especially by Cheshmi. Without those I think the game would have been completely different. Just like hasan pointed out ^, the statistics are actually pretty even. I know statistics are not everything, but if you guys watch the highlights Iran didn't do half bad.

I was thinking the same. I think overall we played better than turkey. Sure the result was no favourable but number of passes and procession was high, especially in the 2nd half, where we clearly dominated.

However there was one gapping difference that I noticed. Turkish players had almost perfect control when they received the pass. The Ball almost would stick to their feet however the TM players would knock the ball away and in many cases the turks were at hand to peel the ball away.

This is a very good preparatory game. I am overall happy with it, of course I would have liked for the score to have been better however no where the gloom & doom as some are making it sound like.

Please, explain how we played better than turkey? They had so many clear cut opportunities. They passed and danced around us easily. What game were you watching?

So that's it? We already lost to Morocco? Let's cancel the trip to Russia and go home now. Com'on man I know you want us to win every game so do I, but you gotta give the coach the latitude to try his strategy, if I was doing it, I'd want to try bigger heavier players at certain points, then I want to try my people at positions that's not theit natural position at the same time I want my team to learn a valuable lesson in how much more work is needed but most importantly I wouldn't want to give away my game plan neither. I think we accomplished all of that. This was just a Practice Game!!!

I suggest you watch the game again, maybe then emotions are lower and you can see the game more objectively. Surely the last 20 mins of the 1st half and most of the 2nd half we dominated. Turkey were predominately relying on counter attacks in the 2nd half.

Dude we suck against Uzbek U23 in Azadi. Now we play pure crap
against a secon class Team in Europe. Turkey is not strong european
Team. Marocs, Portugal and Spain are much much stronger!

The rely on counter attacks because they were
1-0 up, not because we press them into their
                    half with our antipassing football.

And btw, this Amiri guy sucks big time!
This sound like a consperience theory in politics f.e.
illuminati stuff etc. I take the more obvious way which is:
there is no masterplan, we were just bad.

Maybe but to me it looked like the pace of the game rose and TM started moving the ball at a much faster rate from flank to flank which left turkey no option but to drop back to defend in numbers as they didn't want to give TM space in the danger areas. If you notice they had 2 or more defenders on every player with the ball in their half but still TM got to move the ball with good retention. So for me it was a reaction to TMs play rather than a strategic ploy.

Biggest disappointment for me was Mehdi Taremi. Going to Qatar was the biggest mistake he made. Kaveh Rezaei should've been selected over him.

Guys Turkey is a DECENT team not a GOOD team.
Morocco, Portugal and Spain are all better, and if we cannot perform against them (Turkey), how are we going to perform agaisnt WC calibre teams that are actually going to press the living shit out of us? Cheshmi will be the least of our problems.

                              We did not play good.
However, Costa Rica lost 4-0 to Chili, 3-1 to Japan and 1-0 to Korea before beating Uruguay and Italy in the WC in 2014.

Player for player that Turkish XI we faced is just massively superior to our XI. There's a reason why they were overwhelming favourites and they showed why in spells but we also showed our qualities in spells too.
Regardless, the point stands, there's absolutley no need for all the seething posts and hyperbole after a friendly international like that in which we were more than competitive. Yes, there were negatives and positives, discuss them by all meams but don't start painting some picture of us being in crisis and our players being hopeless etc etc. Have some pride and self-respect and support our boys.
Sorry but Turkey was defintily not the OVERWHELMING favorite against us. Even the turkish footbal website
predicted a 2-1 victory for iran! Your argument concerning the comparison playery by player is not a indicator in
football. We played great against Argentina and lost in last minute due to messi brillianc1, and yes
here we can speak of an overwhelming favorite with top players like
Messi, Di Maria, Agüro, Mascherano etc etc.
Moreover we were able to drew much stronger russian side on their turf,
we beat Venezuela and Algeria, so i dont see the point to make Turkey overwhelming
superioir. They were nor able to qualify for WC in a quite doable group.
They are for sure not that good and with a better peformance/tactic/desire
                                we could def. beat them.
Lesson from this game is, that Vouria and Jalal Hosseini were missed badly.
