I don't know when the talk of money came up, I'm guessing it's a go-to assumption, because I got the impression he wanted a longer contract, not a bigger wage.

If I had taken Iran to 2 World Cups in a row, with such ease this time, and a late free-kick from a point against Argentina (and a potential penalty from 3), I would expect to be offered a 4 or 5-year contract. What can happen at the Asian Cup to make him suddenly unemployable? Iran could fail to qualify, he would've still earned the chance to fix it, and clearly could do.

I said this in another thread, and I will say it again. CQ is a top 10 national team paid coach in the world. How many other countries, that can offer similar football talent to insure he could make another World Cup, can offer him more money? The list is a lot smaller than people think.

        why is he angry/disappointed/…?
and what a time to do so!!!!
if this doesn't affect the team, even a little bit, then I dont now what does.
seeing him pick on the number of threads or number of holes on a jersey (for making sure everything is optimal & not allowing the smallest things to get in the way), then saying stuff like this from him less than a month before WC is just foolish and horrible
sometimes I really wonder what goes on in his head when he does stuff like this
Is it really that hard to understand why someone who has done things NO OTHER TM coach has done would be offended by such an offer? And going off of that, do you really think CQ wouldn’t make it known to Taj and other IFF officials that he wants to stay?

Fans who still get butt hurt about how he goes about making his points (making negative remarks in the media) need only to refer to the results that have immediately followed every single statement he has made to ease the pain of their koon soozi. The evidence is crystal clear there - with these clowns, unfortunately, this is how you get things done.

Unfortunately, its not just our football culture that needed help, its our backwards culture of 35 years which gets in the way every time. I know he gets a handsome salary but I am AMAZED how he has dealt with these people. If he does leave they should display his statue outside Azadi.

honestly a six month extension isnt a bad deal. the thinking is that after the Asian Cup, CQ would have been with us for two rounds of WC and AC and if we get knocked out at group stages again in WC and not win the AC, then you'd probably want to look ahead at the next stage of Iran's footballing development. CQ is a really well paid coach, so the assumption would be that you could recruit a coach of his world class calibre with the same budget. also it should be noted that Iff has done a pretty good job setting up friendlies and camps since Taj came on board, alot of it is thanks to CQ, but the point is that the Iran job is an appealing one for a good international coach. i support CQ, he's the best coach iran has ever had. but a 6 month extension is not a bad deal, and its pretty sus that he went and did an interview with rueters right before the world cup starts to gain some negotiation leverage, talk about avoiding hashiye.. you think joachim lowe wouldve kept his job as germany head coach if he had lost to Argentina? CQ's done really well, but after 7 years at the helm, a six month extension isnt an insult given that in terms of results we got 1 point in brazil and got knocked out by iraq last round. also you should know that the iff would have probably preferred to negotiate the contract after the world cup, but CQ probably pushed for it to happen now.

As much as I love Schaffer (really likeable guy), his resume is no where near CQ.

That being said, I would rather appoint Schaffer's turd as the next Team Melli Manager than even think about appointing Branko Ivankovic or any other hasood, lajbaz domestic Irooni managers.

Azizi ruined WC 2002 because of his issues with Ciro
                A. Karimi took a crap on WC 2018 because of his issues with C.Q..... such selfish behavior... we make Gods out of idiots!

why would we get Schaffer? we can get Klisman if we wanted to. although i wouldnt want to. CQ's salary and an almost guaranteed ticket to the world cup is a good gig that alot of world class coaches would take. some shitty irani club coach wouldnt do at all.

Guys I think CQ is serious this time! Every time he said he was going to quit he said it to the Iranian media. Never before he talked to international media (Reuters) about it and even mentioning which continents the next interested teams come from! I think he's very serious this time!

God it would be a disaster to lose him this soon! I really wanted him until the WC2022!!!

lmao, somebody says this every time. There is always international coverage. If he does well with TM, he will stay with iran. This time IFF didnt even do anything, they just said we cant offer you a long term deal with that much salary before we see your WC performance.

Well, international coverage (from Iranian media or just rumors) is one thing, CQ talking directly to international media is another!

I cant believe he did this so close to wc....I hope this doesnt affect our players mentally.

Despite the times that I've disagreed with him and his regular tantrums, CQ remains a revelation for TM.

I witnessed a complete paradigm shift in Iranian football during his time. For the first time ever, a disciplined TM. The guy created a unit and a style of play which I don't think we will see again when he leaves. After years of garbage behaviour (likes of GN), spinelessness and stifling of young talent (Branko) and much more besides, this was a guy who fought for his beliefs and challenged the IFF. If anything, his legacy as a coach (as well as his skill in hunting our players from the diaspora and building this unit of a team which fights for each other) is to take no shit from the IFF.

Wherever he goes, I wish him the best of luck. And I still hope he stays.

Carlos Queiroz will quit his role as Iran’s national team coach after the World Cup and take charge of an African team, he told Portuguese media. The Portuguese former Real Madrid boss said he wants to make history by becoming the first person to lead four different countries to the World Cup finals, starting with the qualifying stages, but he declined to say exactly where his next destination would be.Queiroz coached Portugal in 2010 and led South Africa in 2002.Click here to visit The National’s World Cup 2014 landing pageMy contract stops here. There was a period of ‘love’ in which Iran asked me to continue and they’re still showing that desire,” Queiroz told Publico.“But they don’t have enough governmental support and, it seems clear to me, they’ll stop having effective interest, because of a lack of finances, in maintaining the work done at the national-team level.“The dialogue is over and I’ve already decided not to stay.

I am curious, are you referring to making it to the WC twice in row?
