I think IFF are waiting to see how we preform in the Group of Death before offering him a new contract.

If the results are disappointing, they'll have an easy time giving the team to someone like Daei. But if our performance is impressive, IFF will have two problems for not resigning CQ: the public pressure will be too high to keep him, and other coaches will be hesitant to replace him for the Asian Cup because they know if they win it'll be written down to his work and if they lose they'll be seen as ruining what CQ built.

He himself has helped to cultivate that crop of players. Before Quieroz you would rarely see our IPL and youth team players be so motivated to go to Europe, regardless of the league. Do you think someone like Mohammadi would want to drop everything he has in Iran and play in cold ass Russia for two years because he likes the weather? Or Ramin taking the risk to play for Oostende? Or even if you look at the youth teams, players like Shariati are already making the move. I don't think it's by accident that we've gone from having only Nekounam and Shojaei be our legionnares to having half our squad play abroad. When Quieroz first came he made the message very clear (through invitations to ANY foreign based iranians ala Davari, Beitashour, Dejagah, Gucci) that he prefers picking those who have developed under european systems, and for obvious reasons. Someone with a background in MU, RM, etc can clearly see IPL is an extremely sub-par league. SO, what happens? Players take the risk and make the move that is best for their footballing career, and not just their pockets. Add to this the fact that our team has over the past 6 years been playing some of the most unified and disciplined football we have ever seen from TM. I know it's a bit of an echo chamber to say this on PFDC but he really has been a gem for our football, and has been requesting the BASIC accommodations for a successful national team. So PLEASE, it makes me die a little inside whenever people back IFF and say that they've provided him with everything he's asked for, because 'everything' is just the baseline standard of what a national team needs. Even then, we still find ourselves watching our team play Sierra Leona D team.

i must say that before quieroz irans football was treated like a joke by us in the US, now we still think that Iran isnt extremely strong, but they are respectable and can give us a fight

Otherwise Christoph Daum would be a good replacement

Have to be critical of CQ for making such statement at critical times when the team is looking to him as source of confidence and stability. It basically says "I don't care what happens in world cup, I am gone anyway".

... Frankly, it may be better for him to leve and let someone else deal with IFF bullshit. iFF doesn't care much about Asian cup anyway.

The ideal manager and most realistic looks to be Schaffer, but we will see.
From your posts it's clear you're a teenager. You haven't been around long enough to know how lucky we are to have CQ. You were in diapers when we had to deal with Brangoh and Ghalenoi. Read more, post less.

CQ coaches Iran for the money, not for anything else. Why else do you think he coaches TM?

Trying to ensure he has a contract lined up before going to the world cup makes sense. If Iran doesn't have a good performance (most likely case) in the worldcup IFF will use it as a reason to fire him.

Man, What's with the condescending attacks on Hoorad? Sure he might be a younger memeber, and he's entitled to his opinion. I'm 29 and remember Team melli games from the times you're talking about and still agree with his statement. It has nothing to do with age. Sometimes people just see things differently than you do, that doesn't mean they're dumb or childish. Jeez...

And one more time since some on here and in Iranian social media (Hi Perspolis fans!) keep accusing CQ's supporters of "worshiping" him or exaggerating his quality: The issue isn't that CQ is the ONLY top level coach in the world. It's not that he's the ONLY coach who could have done for us what CQ has done. The issue is how many of those types of coaches are willing to work long term in Iran?...

Before him they actually brought Javier Clemente who is certainly not a bad coach and were on the verge of signing him. It turned out he didn't want to actually live in Iran and insisted on coaching the team while living outside! This is what the 14 year old "patriots" don't seem to understand. There are a lot of good coaches, yes, but most of them would not want to work in Iran and would not put up with the pathetic mismanagement and disorganization. Now keep dreaming of replacing CQ with this and that world class coach. Once CQ leaves, his successor will be most likely Daei or Branko, or best case scenario, Schafer.

He is actually smart. By putting all the media attention on himself, his players and his decisions on personnel get a lot less attention. A lot of coaches in American sports use this tactic.

Maybe he coaches because he likes it? maybe he likes coaching in iran because it's a football-crazy nation with a deep talent pool that's untapped? maybe he sees our potential? maybe because he gets more autonomy and respect than he would in a country like portugal?

This is the kind of iranian bullshit mentality that's rooted in jealousy. It reminds me of how IR used the false rumors of the Shah stealing $50billion dollars when he left Iran, when it was later proven in court that he'd taken something like $60M. Iranians get SO upset when someone is making money. I love that people point to CQ being the 7th-highest paid at the world cup. WHO GIVES A SHIT. it's not your money. would you rather the regime spent it on Hezbollah?

Are you people fucking forgetting that we didn't qualify for WC2002 with a squad much more talented than this, and didn't even make the playoff in 2010? are you forgetting that it's our first time in back to back world cups AND WE DONT HAVE a single legionnaire in the top 5 leagues. It's so incredibly clear to anyone with an ounce of intelligence and no hidden agenda that this man is the absolute best thing that's ever happened to our football, that these comments drive me insane.

The only reason we had a CHANCE at getting him in the first place is because his stock was at an all-time low with the FIFA doping scandal he had in Portugal. Good fucking luck getting another coach of his caliber. I can't wait to see all the haters reactions when we suck ass again, our legionnaires return to arab countries, and we qualify for the WC every 8-12 years.

Any sane federation would see that so far CQ hasn't done anything which would make his indispensable and would wait to see him actually give us a above average product before throwing more money at him.
Bro Please, he probably tried handling it behind closed doors and the federation proabably behaved like animals.. Screw IFF I hope cq stays so we have a team if not we might as well just send the u 17 team to the asian cup
