I was looking back to the 7 years of CQ and CQ's lowest point as TM manager was late 2012 during the 2014 WCQ when we lost to Uzbekistan, Lebanon.
Now I was looking at those lineups and only about 3 or 4 of them (Ashkan, Masoud, Karim, Hajsafi) play for TM currently, but when I looked at the bench, it was a scary to see that we had players such as Ghazi, Both Nouri's, Ali Hamoudi, Maziar Zare, Nazari, Mo Ebrahimi, etc. Now you look at the squad and we are so balanced from top to bottom.. I would be comfortable putting in bench players at any time because we are so stacked compared to 5 years ago and CQ is to credit for much of that.

TM has only gone upward ever since then and its continued to go up, so it makes no sense to why anyone would want CQ gone when we are only getting better and better especially with the new kids about to come up replacing the old guys shortly.
I've never seen such a likable team filled with players that's liked by everyone.

I think the best case scenario is for him to stay until end of AC 2019. I honestly think with a little of luck we can get the title this year. this is the closest we have been to a title. even more so then with bronko in AC 2004

First of all why didn’t they make his contract extend to asian cup from the beginning knowing its only 6 months orso after the world cup. If they offer him an extension I hope they make the contract extend until next asian cup after qatar wc.
CQ is by far the best coach we have had. He is willing to stay despite all the bs and lack of cooperation. He actually cares about the tm and its players. He even crosses players he likes that do not fit his tactics. If he was really playing favoritism, he would have kept jalal and voria.
I am so sad jalal didn’t make it but I know CQ makes the right tough decisions that are logical and benefit tm.
Long live Carlos. If this is truly your swan song, you will be missed. Thank you for all that you have done for the ungrateful bunch of fans.

In the past IFF officials they have done the best to accommodate CQ’s requests even as far as restructuring IFF, creating BS department (appointing Pairavani), dismissing Asadi…. They might bend again this time since Taj and Kafasiam are weak incompetence and gutless. However, this time around it is not easy for them and they may not be able to go along with CQ's wishes even if they want to.
Because of Trump withdraw from Nuclear deal and Pompeo’s declaration New Iran policy (Strongest sanction in History), Even if CQ contract remain the same (nominal value), actual cost for IFF will increase drastically and they don’t have fund to pay him. IFF may have to wait few years to get FIFA money and that will not work.
In addition to the sanction & Dollar issue, there is an important clause in CQ contract that entitle him to receive full amount of contract in case of war and insecurity in Iran. As it stands there s no guarantee that trump administration will change their plan of regime change, destabilizing Iran and engaging Iran in some sort of military confrontation.in next 18 months.
IFF simply may not be able to offer CQ what he wants.

It is clear that the whole football organisation in Iran doesn't like him because he is a fighter and he has stopped the dallal bunch having any financial gain under CQ. Even this single achievement should be enough to renew his contract until he wants to stay in Iran. He demands discipline, planning and ultimate authority to manage TM and this is not something Iranian football is used to. IFF and Mr Taj is simply bending backward under pressure from within Iranian corrupt football community that hope the cash cow will be established if CQ leaves. That is unfortunately the true reality of the current situation and REGARDLESS of individual wins or losses, Iran has never ever had such a disciplined team. His legacy of PEC and the two training fields (if ever become ready) will speak for itself for years to come, of course unless the training fields are sold to Mr Hedayati and PEC becomes a medical centre after he leaves :-)

I witnessed a complete paradigm shift in Iranian football during his time. For the first time ever, a disciplined TM. The guy created a unit and a style of play which I don't think we will see again when he leaves. After years of garbage behaviour (likes of GN), spinelessness and stifling of young talent (Branko) and much more besides, this was a guy who fought for his beliefs and challenged the IFF. If anything, his legacy as a coach (as well as his skill in hunting our players from the diaspora and building this unit of a team which fights for each other) is to take no shit from the IFF.

Wherever he goes, I wish him the best of luck. And I still hope he stays.

Unfortunately, its not just our football culture that needed help, its our backwards culture of 35 years which gets in the way every time. I know he gets a handsome salary but I am AMAZED how he has dealt with these people. If he does leave they should display his statue outside Azadi.
            excellent posts..!!
CQ's true Value to our country extends Well Beyond Football Matters..!

personally, i just can not get myself to come to term with his possible departure..!

well, then in that case you also have to consider the fact that the other three coaches who have qualified us to the WC, were never given a chance to coach our national team for a second shot at a WCQ. In fact I don't recall anyone having been given 7 years to coach our national team.

Well, then in that case you also have to consider the fact that the other three coaches who have barely qualified us to the WC, were never deserved to be given a chance to coach our national team for a second shot at a WCQ.
Who are you exactly comparing CQ to?

Didn’t he originally say he wants to stop working since his job has not allowed him to spend enough time with his family and after this WC he wants to retire? I would assume that’s why they only offered him a contract until end of Asia cup since he wanted to retire. Can never tell with Carlos but I hope he stays until at least end of Asia cup we can win it with him I’m sure.

we are not comparing anyone to anyone else. Ghermez Agha stated in another post that no one else has been able to take TM to the WC twice (or twice in a row). I am pointing out that no one else has been the coach of TM long enough to have a shot at a "repeat".

IFF is stupid, they had some years ago when they renewed his contract, make it fix, if he qualifies Iran to World Cup, his contract will automatically run until February 2019 after Asian Cup. Between World Cup and Asian Cup or even after the Asian Cup they will held new contract talks, so we knew our performance in world cup 2018 at least or even the asian cup 2019 outcome..

Hala in ahmagh Ghalegohi is going to try to be Team Melli coach ...let’s slide down 5 years Again...no Brangoh either please

I rather have the corpse of Hilter coach Iran than Ghalegohi.

That doesn't mean anything, but imo you don't even know what will happen to Iran soon, I think CQ knows trouble times are ahead, and regime won't care for football in near future, so the lack of professionalism will be even bigger soon. Maybe he realizes that it will be much tougher for him.

I don't think he's leaving. He has it good here and he wants to coach another World Cup team. He has set us up for the next decade and can do even better the next time around. I highly doubt he would give that up. As soon as IFF offer a new contract he's taking it.

Before the World Cup 2014 CQ was saying that he would leaving us and go away. But he stay for Asian Cup 2015 and is still with us! If he stay until WC2022 it would be special for us and I execpt allot for his team by WC2022
