You can’t deny that this man is a genius. In the 2010 World Cup, CQ’s ageing Portuguese team were 1 offside goal away from knocking one of the best teams in history, Spain. I emphasise, this was with a team that had two 33 year olds in attack.
Fast forward to his career with Iran, he managed to take an ageing and inexperienced team like ours 1 goal away from drawing with the eventual Runners Ups in WC 2014.
Don’t forget he has made us qualify for the WC TWICE IN A ROW for the first time ever.
This man is a specialist at making average teams look good on the world stage. He has a few cards up his sleeve. Get excited for WC 2018!!!![emoji1130][emoji1130][emoji1130][emoji1130]

Something about the 2010 WC.
The match Spain-Portugsl was not the 1/4 final but the round of 16 (2nd round). Spain won 1-0 in regular time, goal scored at the 63rd minute. The almighty Spain lost its first match against Switzerland and won all its other matches with one goal difference except their match against Honduras, which they won 2-0.
Portugal only scored against N. Korea in its 4 matches.

For 1994, Portugal 'failed' by not qualifying, but in reality they had only qualified twice before in its history and they were 7 minutes away from qualifying before a late winner in Milan by a certain Dino Baggio of eventual runner-up Italy.
For 2010, they had to go through the playoffs, then got knocked out after the group stage by eventual winners Spain 1-0 when they were one of the best teams in the history of football.

Besides, it's better the friendly is cancelled. Kosovo wouldn't have been competitive so you can't test any players, and Iran would've been heavy favourites and dominated, which won't happen at the World Cup, so you can't test tactics. Now imagine Azmoun or Pouraliganji got injured in it. We would've wished it was cancelled.

Iran coach Queiroz laments 'no one wants to play against us'
This is such a lie! Don't say that CQ, say I didn't want to play because I was afraid to reveal my tactics!

As of now, there isn't really much substance to contemplate whether or not he should keep or lose his job. In fact, his stunning qualification campaign should be even more evidence of Carlos' excellent managing ability.
And yes, while the 24 man roster pissed me off as well, we have to remember that Carlos is the manager, and at the end of the day, he knows 200% more football than ANY of us.

Let this damn tournament end before wanting the man out. Based on what are you making your judgement? You want him out before watching our games in the WC and how we perform? You’re definitely a paper fan!
