For now I voted Carlos Queiroz out after the World Cup, because of his salary and achievements so far. Apart from qualifying for 2 World Cups, he has done nothing extraordinary in these 7 years that justify him to be the 7th highest paid coach.

We need a new face, preferably an offensive minded (to utilise our attacking talent) EU coach with knowledge of Asian football if CQ fails to make an impact in Russia. When we win the Morocco game, a 6 month contract extension is the most logical outcome I'd say. Paul Le Guen, former Oman manager, would be a good option to consider otherwise.

I also like Le Guen, should be easily affordable for IFF too. Could do well with this crop of players

Agreed...I know I will get attacked for the next few words I share...however, here goes nothing:

I think CQ has gotten us as far as he can. I wouldn't mind a change in style. Personally for me the professionalism piece everyone argues about is not the end all be all because IFF is a very poorly run organization and so professionalism has a ceiling which CQ has exceeded in my opinion. That being said, some of the most unprofessional/scandalous federations like Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, Uruguay (don't believe me...just google bribery and cheating associated with those and countless other federations) have had amazing national team results...with far less expensive and even at times unknown coaches! I have never believed defense first mentality is the way to win in Asia and while Greece was the exception in Europe, few teams have ever won a championship with 1-0 score lines throughout a tournament. At this stage my chant is "hey hey, ho ho, CQ has got to go..." There is something fundementally wrong when you can only win matches 1-0 regardless of who the opponent is...

Of course, progressing beyond group stage this year at the WC or wining AC can change the above as it will be a significant achievement that no other modern TM coach has achieved. But either of these scenarios seems very unlikely. By the he sounds of it, CQ is already using language and excuses for why the WC will be tough...undoubtedly we were unfortunate with our draw and it seems as of right now he doesn't feel another crack at AC is worth his $7 million salary.

is not the matter if they can afford cheaper coaches, is the matter of discipline and order, which weaker coaches can't fight IFF like CQ did.

            CQ achievment
            1. remove all the cache nana who think they own Iran national team(rahmati, aghili and etc)
            2. made our players want to go europe
            3. creating PEK and new pitch
            4. taking Iran too two back to back World Cup
            5. creating harmony and making them know the coach word is final
            6. brining in new younger player ,2014 average age like 32, 2018:26
            7. went 2018 World Cup qualifiers with zero defeats and only let in 2 goals
            8. brought good friendlies (Algeria, tunasia, turkey and Russia ,Chile)
what else is he suppose to do, when IFF don't give him the player due to stupid acl.
CQ must stay to take us to another World Cup.

You are missing the point. But since you listed all these ''arguments'', I want to take a closer look to what you have said.

1.As far as concerned, Rahmati and Aghili decided to retire themselves. This decision was not forced by Carlos Queiroz, he just decided to not call them up any more. I am failing to see Queiroz' his ''influence'' in this case.
2.What? Is he some sort of an agent or something? He's a manager. For all these players that went to Europe, you can name a plenty of Team Melli regulars who went to the Qatar Stars League. Is this also because of Queiroz?
3.The PEC was not created by CQ, it was a suggestion and the federation finalized it. Any semi decent coach could ask for a training centre. It's not a complete new innovation.
4.The 2014 World Cup qualifiers were just a huge amount of luck and also due to Ghoochannejhad's clutch moments. The entire campaign was rather uninspiring and very shocking. The recent 2018 qualifiers we failed to win against weak sides like China and Syria. Also South Korea has probably their weakest NT since a few years, not to even begin about Uzbekistan.
5.This point is something I'd agree about but it's still somewhat questionable. His authoritarian approach often leads to emotional outburst on the field that are totally uncalled for and quite unprofessional.
6.in 2014 he left out the most talented and youngest player Sardar Azmoun, that hurt us in the potential to attack in the Bosnia game at the end.
7.With all due to respect, conceding 0 goals in AFC isn't impressive as we have seen how much AFC is behind in comparison to other continents. In friendly games against non AFC side we mostly concede a goal or two.
8.In the past we have also played good sides. I can remind you of friendlies against Brazil, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and more. Games like the Sweden one weren't even arranged by CQ but it was the work of some Iranian fans based in Stockholm who made a request to the Swedish federation to invite Iran for a friendly.

And what matters to me the most is that CQ failed to reach the semi-finals of the 2015 Asian Cup, and also got only 1 point from the previous 2014 World Cup. These are achievements that other Iranian coaches would have accomplished as well, with less salary and support.

                I say this again

If we don’t at least get 2-3 points in our group or finish last , then it’s maybe time for CQ to go but if we play good

And get results by at least beating Morroco and finishing 3 rd I say let’s keep him.

I want to see a manager which allows us with the players we have to play attacking football, while in sync with the defense. Kind of like Germany... We will be serious title contenders (Asian Cup) when we stop winning by narrow margins of 1-0 victories.

This might be the only valid point...however not the way many see it as I do not believe players in Kazan and Greece is the limit. If CQ leaves TM I hope he takes a European club offer so that he could potentially facilitate the move of many TM and IPL players to Europe. He will undoubtedly have the scouting reports and know first hand the value of some of our domestic players!

from Purely Football perspective i can surely find some faults with Carlos..!
also, i sorta feel like his overall conservative and somewhat 1-dimentional tactical game approaches are far more likely to yield good results in long-haul sorta competitions such as AC or WC Qualifying campaigns than the short-termed Tourneys such as AC or WC whereby an healthy dose of luck and a multi-dimensional and daring approach is more likely to yield a noteworthy outcome..!
BUT as i've mentioned many times prior, Sir Carlito's Simply Immense Value to our football Far Exceeds that of just Purely Tactical Football related matters..!! The man is slowly but surely addressing and Healing many of the far more FUNDAMENTAL Issues that has been plaguing our football progress for ages..!! (many of which that seem Cultural in nature and very difficult to get rid of..!) nisfejahan refers to many of them in his post below..!
It takes a Genuine Caring for the job which is difficult to find amongst any other (mostly mercenary) foreign coaches and even more Rare is finding another with Carlos's level of Diplomatic Craftiness and canny and incisive abilities to adequately counter the corrupt system of government thats ruling over the whole damn country..!!
It would certainly be most foolish of us to loose this man's services...! & if you guys honestly think that IFF has the ability or even the willingness to find a Better Alternative ..? lol then I don't know what to say anymore...!!!

These facts are not in dispute:

1- The results have been unparalleled in our modern football history.

2- He has brought discipline to the notoriously undisciplined TM.

3- Has eliminated bazikon salari or pimadonnas.

4- Qualified twice to WC with what I would say is not the greatest generation.

5- Encouraged the young players to go to Europe and set their sights higher than the shitty Arab leagues.

6- Defended the honor of Iranian football and players with passion.

7- Took on the corrupt IFF and the 2-bit coaches who have been trying to undermine him from the moment he arrived.

8- And remember he joined TM at almost the peak of sanctions and worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles.

And please do not show inferiority complex by arguing that he is respected because he is Farangi. No, Branko was Farangi too. A BUST. Balzewic, although better than Branko, could not qualify Iran with much better players and much weaker competition. No, he is respected, because of his results, his passion, and his commitment. PERIOD.

CQ has never lasted as head coach for longer than 2 years. As an assistant he retained the position for 4 years with ManU. Now in his 7th with TM something clearly is working for him...he is compensated very well...do you believe his efforts are worth it? What hardware have we earned under CQ?

Sure players in Europe is a great thing...but how many in England, Spain, or Germany? I mean look at where all the east Asian stars are and then let's discuss legionnaires. 7 years as a national team coach who has won nothing is very concerning. CQ has 1 job...win...so far he is a big 0 in that column.

what hardware? please stop these stupid comments. We've had one chance to "win hardware" and we all know the bs that happened vs iraq was out of his control. This argument that he has won nothing is so laughable. This isnt like managing a club team, you have only a few games a year, weve only had ONE CHANCE to win something, so no its not "concerning". CQ has introduced things to our national team that no other coach has been able to do. He has given us a strong cohesive unit, with good defensive foundations, blooded in an entire young generation of players, got us an elite training center, and much more. I repeat, he has had one chance to win something, so if thats your only argument against him then its pretty damn weak

Fyi 2012 WAFF group stage elimination. First time Iran didn't medal at this tournament was under CQ. Also while we complained about lack of friendlies and chance to provide the younger players or a B team with experience CQ decided to withdraw TM from the 2014 edition. It does not appear we will participate in the 2018 edition either.

You are right...not many opportunities for hardware but for a nation that has to play arab opponents here was a solid opportunity to establish dominance and gain experience over them so the AC fiasco could be prepared for.

I can give you CQ's job history:

Portugal Under-20s: Won both World Youth Tournaments (1989, 1991), knocking out Brazil both times, building what would become Portugal's golden generation (Figo etc.) Was promoted to senior side.

Portugal: Almost qualified for only their third ever World Cup in USA 1994, but a late Dino Baggio goal in Milan in the final game saw the eventual runner-up through instead of them. Resigned (I think) due to frustration with FA.

Sporting CP: Best league finish in a decade and first cup in 13 years.

NY/NJ Metrostars and Grampus Eight: Did nothing special in the few months he was there.

Man Utd assistant: Groomed by Sir Alex as his successor in 2 spells and gave him control of the team a lot of time, helping them win a couple of league titles and more importantly the Champions League, as well as building players like Ronaldo. Left out of choice for Real Madrid and Portugal.

Real Madrid: Failed and sacked after 1 season. Which is longer than most managers there.

Portugal: Recovering from the end of their golden generation, qualified for 2010 World Cup, reached 2nd round but eliminated by eventual winners and best team in football Spain 1-0.

The amount of years is irrelevant. Iran aren't winning the World Cup, only the Asian Cup. So one chance to win something. Getting knocked out in the quarters isn't any worse than before. Unless you think he should be sacked for the WAFF tournament.

He HAS established Iran as dominant. They destroyed everyone in qualifying and are the best team in Asia. 9 straight clean sheets and undefeated. NINE! It's unbelievable.

Sir Alex brought CQ specifically to strengthen ManUtds defense for European Championship, which he did
